Great improvement in BVE 2.9 003.1366.30759 – image 1

I hope don't offend Wulf and Christopher opening this new thread, but I'm very happy to announce that in the new beta version of Bve.Net available today on Mackoy's site the "scenery spring" problem in sharp curves has been solved! FGC curves (60 m radii) are now completely smooth! The little spring in the scenery every 25 meters is vanished and repetive objects works perfectly!
This can be a great news also for tram route builders and narrow gauge fans in general. Luigi Cartello

Hi Luigi,
This is going to sound really silly but do you have to download the program or the .NET framework again?I found the .NET framework on the front of PC Pro a while back!BTW: I managed to get the FGC to work and it is great!

It's only the program from Mackoy that needs to be downloaded again. The libraries are from Microsoft and are always the same.F4 is not implemented yet, but I think that being it part of the "visual control panel" it will come only in the next "not beta" release.Luigi Cartello

and now i'm up to 6.4 fps in the latest beta. Only 18 more
betas and I'll break 24 fps! Excellent work, the new beta
still has panel issues, but it runs smoother already. I miss
the timetable and frankly I'd like to see the side panel back in
some form too. Christopher Tarana

sorry if i'm thick, so the only thing fixed in this one are those gaps in the tracks on curves?Any of you noticed how all the routes are on development mode in the beta, meaning f5 and f6 work on the works.I vote for the old select a route screen(with a picture of the route maybe instead of the train or anything you want), and the markers. I want to see those back in there.

RE: Great improvement in BVE 2.9 003.1366.30759

Hi, Just downloaded and installed the new version. I wonder if anyone else is having the problem I'm having? Some of the panels don't seem to corner in the upper left-hand corner (0,0). There seems to be one or more vertical rows of transparency along the left-hand edge and if I zoom and scroll upwards, there seems to be one or two horizontal rows of transparency. I've noticed this in the original and this updated version as well.
On another note, I wish Mr. Mackoy would give us a digital-type timetable (similar to MSTS) that would popup when we hit one of the F-Keys. On that timetable format, it gives a digital indication of how far you are from the stopping location.
Even with the problems (to be expected with a beta version), This program seems to be a great improvement over earlier version. My framerate has been doubled and more.

Ron

Yeah, it's not without it's problems. I think the biggest issue with the panels is that they are smaller than the new possible resolutions so they pixelate and act funny at hi-res.This is definitely a huge step for BVE though. I'm sure the timetable will be back; not sure in what format but whatever it is will work well. Also I hope there is a way to DISABLE developer mode as I have a bad habit of hitting the F5 key by mistake when I go for F4 (in bve 2.5) and I HATE doing that.Tim Frost

This is great news!!!!! This means that the DLR wil finally be less gappy around curves and won't need most of the special objects I have been making to cover them up, but come to think of it, I sorta wasted my time

Eh, where did my signature go?
Oh, here it is, the one you are reading right now? Can't you see it? I know I know, it is probably too bright to see it.
Anyway, I told you not waste time reading my signature! You have just wasted 10 seconds!

You got a point there Stooopid! However it would be nice to produce a route suitable for and using full features of BVE.net I do have to wait for the non-beta one as I expect a lot will change to do that though. Oh well, must crack on...

Has anyone noticed the the new function to reprogram the keys. Also if you turning on the number keys (Nun Lock) you can change the view out the window. It also shows something about switches what ever that means.

My Big problem is on a system running 98se with an older TNT video card I don't see the signals only one big glowing color even with glow function turned off. It does fix a lot of problems with curves and jumpy picture. Can't wait to see the finished product.Jason

Has Anyone had any luck getting a USB (MS Sidewinder) to work with the new version? - Mine worked fine with 2.5 but I can't get it to work for acceleration and braking with the beta. I can program buttons but not the xy joystick axis to work.

You can reprogram the view keys also so you don't have to use NumLock, which is handy for those who use a laptop.I get that same thing with the big glow on the signal and glow function off.Is that a bug or particular to some systems.I use WinXP with shared memory S3 Twister video.Glad your around again Jason.
