Hi,ASP.Net is indeed part of the Microsoft Net_Framework programme.
So you can rest assured that the aliens have'nt landed and taken up residence in your PC.What do you mean by it showing up as a new user ?When you installed it, did you complete the info at the start of the install programme?I should not worry unless it has any bad effects on your PC.I am running M.E. and have run this programme now for nearly 48hrs without any problems.Cheers
Bryan

All OS have the ability to have separate accounts for each user if you turn it on. XP you must set up a user at first but there is a way to have it so you don't have to login unless of course you wish to have the security. Its hard to say what caused it but I have a feeling it was something during the install as I can't remember what I got for options when I installed the .NET Framework although I had installed in quiet a while ago as I'm playing with it for the Transit Simulator I'm work on. Its quite an extensive library I'll tell you that much it takes advantage of all of the new technology, although for those of you who are running voodoo cards or similar might have problems with it as DirectX is starting to pull away from the technology those cards used but as long as you've downloaded the latest drivers from Nvidia you should be fine for now until DirectX 10 which I'm guessing to be out in about a year to a year and a half from now.. Sorry for going on about it just figured a few might like to know some of the details of the whole framework and the attached dependencies.Andrew Larson

Yeah that's it .. it has set itself up as a new account on my pc .. I didn't do anything but install the .net framework .. so I was a bit suprised to have to log on to my own machine as , now with two users ( i had the sole account before) it is unsure which of us wants to use the computer .Before it would just boot up and say welcome , now I have to click on my user name to 'log in'. What I would like to know is , if I delete this ASP.net user account , will it impact my BVE , I'd rather know before I do it.
I'll have to do a bit of reading .. thanks for all the help by the way .. hehe .. you guys are fast!
jvPS I did a bit of reading .. it's got something to do with this .NET passport thing .. it sounds like another microsoft thing ..fill in your details give us your email address (yeah .. right!) and you too can enter the wonderful world of .net passport land .. hehe visit .net enabled websites .. you will only have to remember one password.. etc . So presumeably , so as you can actually run the .net stuff it has to install itself as a new account holder , including this passport stuff .. It's Bill oooer!

Yep, I had the same thing. If you are using WinXP, you can go into Control Panel/User Accounts, where you will see a new NET Account. This can be safely deleted and Windows will then boot up as normal without the need to log in.When it asks about keeping or deleting files, I chose delete and the beta BVE works fine.Hope this helps.Keith

SLUGS !!! He created slugs, they can't speak, they can't hear, they can't operate machinery. Are we not in the hands of a lunatic here? If I was the creator of the universe, I wouldn't fluff around with butterflies and daffodils, I'd start with lasers, 8 o'clock, day 1, POW !!!!

Microsoft have released a fix for this anyway, since when I attempted to delete the account it caused a freeze on WinXP Home - see http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;827072&Product=aspnetA simple registry entry gets rid of the Login screen at startup, if like me you've got your PC set up to boot straight into your Desktop.

Currently recreating the Heathrow Express for BVE.

Hi all,Just to confirm the advice given previously, that installing the .NET framework will indeed creat a new user account for it... my recommendation is to get into the Control Panel and delete the account AND all the files... Bve 2.9 works perfectly without it.
Let's face it, who the hell wants to be in .NET-land anyway, only M$ could make an entire OS into a piece of spyware CiaoSaxon Locomotive Works - "The difficult we do immediately; the impossible takes a little longer"http://www.zodiac-infosystems.co.uk/rail/bve
