With the train I had, which the #DEACCELARATION is 5, the brakeing part is 0,0,1(EP brake, not rheo nor regen, services brakes stop at 1km/h), in BVE2.5.3, I went 80km/h, and put the brakes on.Here are the results I get. Both of them increase to about 4.1km/h/s at the end, when below 10km/h.B2(highest braking notch), -3.9km/h/s at the start, then about 75km/h, it drops to -3.8km/h/sEMR, -3.8km/h/s So I notice that brake notches give faster braking than emergency! Then now for the trick, to get the maximum out of braking, I did this, at 80km/h, I hit EMR, then quickly released one notch of brake to B2, now I get a braking rate of -6.6km/h/s! Even higher than the braking rate specified in the train.dat! At the end, when almost stopping, I get a braking rate of 7.1km/h/s! So, if you notice you're going to fast into stations, use this method! I haven't tested on trains with other braking systems yet though...

RE: How to get the most out of your train's brakes
just as a sort of off topic- but to do with brakes:Why is the last power notch the same strength in braking as the EB? Ive noticed the brake gague does not move when using the last brake notch then moving into EB, it stays where it is. Surely it would move?
RE: How to get the most out of your train's brakes
That depends entirely on whether the creator has specified a higher EB pressure than service pressure in train.dat.W.Saxon Locomotive Works - "The difficult we do immediately; the impossible takes a little longer"http://www.zodiac-infosystems.co.uk/rail/bve
RE: How to get the most out of your train's brakes
It works with other train brakes too!
