I have recently been in the helping of developing a few BVE trains, and one thing that i have come to realise, is no matter what train i drive, the signal AWS is always the same Bing, yet, as i get some cab rides in different stock, it sounds different. What would people say, if there was a "COMMON.SOUND" folder in the "Sound" folder that holds different AWS's for lets say a 158, then a 170. The 158's AWS would be much older than the 170, therefore sound different.I think this is how BVETSS works isnt it? In the Route file, there is just the @Announce: Run1 or something for each bit of different track, so why not have something like this for AWS?I thought about this as I was playing with the Class 158 Upgrade, which is about to be realeased. . . . oops!

Wrong.Run sounds are played automatically according to the track ( ) assignments in the declarations at the top of the route file and correspond to the type of track the train is currently on. Announce is used for incidental sounds.Saxon Locomotive Works - "The difficult we do immediately; the impossible takes a little longer"http://www.zodiac-infosystems.co.uk/rail/bve

Eh, where did my signature go?
Where has my favourite LUL train gone? Maybe it was sent for bolt checking again...

RE: COMMON.SOUND?

The ATS and AST CNT are in the train folders- yes, but what if i wanted to drive a class 159 on the Dawn run of Sandymill Electric?
Then the ATS will be wrong.
Just thinking

I don't think you'll save very much space, bandwidth, or trouble in the end. This wouldn't appear to do any good to non-UK route developers. While that is a large portion of the community on this forum, it certainly doesn't constitute the entire developer base. I'm not saying there can't be things to benefit just the UK developers or just the Japanese developers, but generally it would be nice to develop things like BVETSS, which can benefit anyone developing from any country. Track sounds are universal, almost all routes will use at least one jointed track sounds, one cwr sound, and one of each of the above in tunnels, etc. Not all routes will use the same crossing sounds, or AWS.Tim Frost
