It's a very somber tone but I am not exactly certain I know what it means. I'm guessing from the date it was blown on 11-09-02 at 8:46 am, and I know what THAT means, but what is the story behind the horn?Sorry if this should be obvious!Tim Frost

Thank you. Very interesting. A smile hardly seems appropriate... but I do appreciate the link. I hope you'll let the following stay here due to the date, despite being off-topic.Mostly from my Livejournal:
Thursday, September 11th, 2003
0113 Pacific Daylight Time
Ground Zero
We went to where the World Trade Centre stood in New York on the 18th, as I mentioned in the trip log. What I didn't mention was how strange it was not only to stare up at the quarter-mile high hole in the sky... but to stand on pavement that people jumped onto from 80 floors up, and to stand in front of a pit where thousands of people were either crushed or burned to death.
I'm sorry to say that it never really struck home with me until I saw it... it's one of the few times in my adult life I have been completely overwhelmed with emotion. Here are four photos out of about thirty I took at ground zero. I neglected to take one of the underground sign I mention below. The full versions (1280x960) are available if you PM me with your e-mail address. In Memory of Thousands – image 6
One of the posters showing the World Trade Center in it's original glory on the fence keeping the public out of the pit.In Memory of Thousands – image 7
The flag stood still for just a moment so I could snap this photograph. If it was framed just a little better it could be quite chilling, but I had to work with the space and time I had! The flag is in the center of where WTC Two would be.

This is the view at the 'hole in the sky' from across the street. You would've been able to see most of both towers from this vantage point looking in this direction. Had you looked up farther you could have seen the top of both towers.

This subway station has been re-opened. The E train still terminates here. There is a plywood wall downstairs on the fare control level which still has a sign on the tile above above stating "One and Two World Trade Center Towers" Where this plywood wall now stands was once the Subway Entrance to the towers.

RE: In Memory of Thousands

Even 2 years to the day. I can't believe that horrific disaster happened. The funny thing is I've been to the top of tower 2 and me and my parents used to frequent the free concerts they used to have in plaza by the base of the 2 towers. Its very sad indeed and I hope something like this doesn't happen again. A tremendous loss of life....such a pity. Adam

RE: In Memory of Thousands

Thinking back to 9/11 now, that is really scary how all this happened. I still can't believe what happened and really it's still frightening to think about it. I feel very sorry for the New Yorkers for all this. They don't deserve to go through all this mess. Business is going down which is really bad and now enjoyable events and music shows etc. have died down thanks to those horrible people who decided to destroy business and culture in New York. It's a shame that the New Yorkers had to go through all this mess for nothing.

RE: In Memory of Thousands

Actually Anas, I think it inspired alot of music and shows. Most artists put out 9-11 CDs. I belive that us Americans became more patriotic and proud of our county. One street in my town had over 200 US Flags. (Yes, I counted
