I am absolutely gobsmacked at the result of this experiment:Apparatus: 1 2 year old 900MHz AMD Athlon Processor with 256 MB RAM, running Windows Me. Display resolution 1024*768 at 32bit true colour.Test: Run the Bham X-City South High Detail XP summer file on a Win ME system!!! Conditions: All programs closed only systray and explorer left operating. BVE 2.5 started in windowed mode. Drawing distance set at 300m.Results: The route ran ALL the way with now pauses, but one stutter. Redditch-Alvechurch 15-17fps Alvechurch-Barnt Green 12-15fps Barnt Green-Longbridge 10-12fps Longbridge-Northfield 14-15fps Northfield-Kings Norton 15-17fps Kings Norton-Bournville 13-15fps Bournville-Selly Oak 13-15fps Selly Oak-University 10-13fps University-Fiveways 12-14fps Fiveways-Bham New Street 7-10fpsIts great!! i managed to run the high detail XP route in Win ME!!! Can I say that this is a fantastic route and I love the addition of pylons!! That really does add realism. I can't beleive the staggereing amount of detail in the route and the catenary is brilliant!!I have so that that this is the BEST route I have driven to date! Well done Anthony!!
This to me seems to be a bit of a useless post but to point out to you, the high detail XP route was never said to not work on any other machines it just wouldn't get as good of frame rate. Your frame rates are lower than what mine running a Windows XP machine get. On average I tend to get about 5 fps faster. Plus as a note 23 fps is what the human eye sees as perfectly smooth.Andrew Larson
Hmm, I must have super eyesight then, as I can make out a good difference between 23fps and 30fps, when driving routes like SRV2 and Birmingham X City Route. Also note that monitor refresh rate is set to 200hz.Cheer's all,
>Results: >The route ran ALL the way with now pauses, but one stutter. Only one stutter on the entire route?! I assumed the HDXP routes would suffer from regular and frequent pausing problems under Windows Me, just as with Win 9x. Now I think of it the couple of Win Me users I've been in contact with regarding the XP routes have never mentioned any pausing of the HDXP routes under Win Me, so they may just be suitable for Me as well as XP users after all.If anyone else is using the HDXP routes under Windows Me without any pausing problems and they tell me about it, I'll certainly update my readme's and webpages to reflect this.>Its great!! i managed to run the high detail XP route in Win >ME!!!
