I am working on a project and need a bit of help. I am working on the Western main line route, currently only between Reading and Didcot but will be including London-Reading at a later stage. The variable element arises because I am working on a program that writes a unique route file every time it is run, such that no two runs will ever be quite the same. (The randomness extends to the route, train ahead (hence signals), schedule and engineering works, plus whatever else I think of)The first problem is AWS (known as ATS is the origial program), I can get AWS to sound an alarm only for yellow and double yellow signals (yellow and green on the original BVE signal formats), but not for red. Naturally there is no ping for green either, but I'm not so bothered about that. Does anyone know how to get a AWS warning for red, that is one that does not sound if the signal is green. The second problem is that I am using the route simply as a test of my variable route program. Currently it is not technically accurate, and of course has no scenery. Is there anybody with that knowledge and familarity with the route, together with expertise and BVE programming, that wishes to team up and together produce a route which can be released?Alternatively, if anyone else has a route which they think will benefit from the variable route program, get in touch.RegardsKurt

I am currently working on the Heathrow Express from Terminal 4 to Paddington - certainly there may be opportunities for synergies regarding objects etc. especially in suburban London - my coding is still at a very early stage and it is some way off even alpha testing, let alone release, but I'd be happy to help with any 'real life' FGW/TT route. I did plan on doing London-Slough as well at some stage, so I'd be happy to collaborate on any longer Great Western route.

Currently recreating the Heathrow Express for BVE.

I should also mention that PCrail have just released a new paddington simulation, which will help you with signalling, correct passing trains etc. also the ladbroke grove and southall HSE reports offer excellent views of the tracks (i.e from cabs of trains as they are not normally available from the lineside!)

RE: Variable Route (FGW/TT)

HiBetween Reading and Didcot I've concentrated only on the lines, signalling and platforms. If you've done the section between London and Heathrow then that's the most tricky section.Email me privately at kds@ntlworld.com if you wish to combine forces.Kurt

>I think nathan or steve are the best ones to speak to I'm still at a loss how to get a warning when approaching a red light, that is if it's possible under the Japanese system. I think that's the only issue I have simulating AWS. Well I don't think I've fully grasped the ATS-P or ATC but I'm not using those systems anyway.

Eh, where did my signature go?
Where has my favourite LUL train gone? Maybe it was sent for bolt checking again...

RE: Variable Route (FGW/TT)

There was a cabride on an HST Padd - Bristol available a few years ago that will help with scenery, but the track layout is different at what was Scours Lane where the crossovers were taken out and moved about 3/4 mile west to what is now known as Tilehurst East.I can't help from the technical point but might be able to help with route maps, signals etc. All of our BVE drivers drive Reading - Didcot daily so know doubt would be keen to help also.(I provided some of the kit used by John Dennis to make PC Rail Paddington. It's easy with ARS but real difficult running without!)Bill

RE: Variable Route (FGW/TT)

There are two methods, one I've seen posted around here is to sound AWS everytime, speed restrictions for example.I use the transponder facility to signal AWS for non green signals. However I don't get a warning for a red signal (hence the original post), and of course not the familiar ping for a green signal.

RE: Variable Route (FGW/TT)

Sorry to me its sounds like someone trying to re-invent the wheel, nothing agaist your idear, but to me it seems silly to re-do something that has been done.A nice man Called Wulf Rescued Soumi2 from missing files and tryed to relaunch it with its great BRF system that still functions well.So for those who have not looked at it building routes have a look and give it a go and lets see what you can create.Tom
