An Announcement- BVEAC, Leaving – image 1

Yeah, due to recent events, im leaving the BVE forum.
There was only two things i did, that made people strongly dis-like me:
1) My sig was done and dusted, it was not wrong, but some of the language people didnt like, so that was okay- i changed it. BTW Wulf, i still have not got your PM you said you sent.
2)The Traffic Giant sound. I PMed Joshim and Wulf about it, as Wulf is one of the Mod's and Joshim has the route on his website. I am supposing that Tim Frost got all the info from Wulf. Tim, if i wanted it to be public knowledge then i would have posted all about it myself. Its because of this, that the forum devided. It came out about some people not liking the way Wulf moderated the forum, and how it was against the rules to edit someone's post. I didnt even get an email!
As for all the stuff about the website, i dont see why you didnt use it as a temp measure, because i know most who visit your site do not like having to scroll down to the bottom.John, it doesn't matter about the 150/2 cab anyway. The fact of the matter is (and this sometimes applies to me, but not this time) when someone downloads something, there is no stopping them changing it, and making it better for them, or overall better. And *some* people will send it to their mates, there is nothing that people can do about it, a good example is Kazza. This is not saying that i am going to do this, because im not. I will try from scratch making both the 150/2 and 143 i have on the drawing board. When CroTrainz had a BVE forum, there was a post about changing routes and re-coding them backwards. Well, me and my friend Dave managed to do it. yeah yeah i hear you say, i have screens of the menu to prove it. Unfortunatly because i dont have the files on my PC, i cant show any In-Game ones, but i got the best i could.
The package includes adding weather effects at any milepost along the way. The Track Viewer would have been needed to make it run.
As you may see i speak in the past as i am not going to realease it. Its a great breakthrough in my coding skills and BVE as a whole, like BVETSS and AWS. Its no good asking me, I wont realease anything more. A video was taken of X-City from BNS to Reddich, but got lost on my HDD when i downloaded it from Dave. Its somewhere in TempInternetFiles, and im not searching through them, it'll take me days. Of course, the screens are really just the Beta version. It has some bugs, but all can be fixed.I feel that i have been bullied on this forum, and whenever i speak people will just find something wrong with it.
Apologies, this was supposed to be posted yesterday noght, but i didnt have the screens till today.
Ill see the main sites for news, and occationally look here, but in other sections.
Pete

A lot of people can open up Visual Basic, plonk some buttons on a form and claim that it does this and does that.Look at my new program:

I'm sorry that you feel you have to leave Pete. To the lot of you who were making silly remarks about Peter's up and coming program, I would like to ask you, whatever happened to the term "Innocent until proven guilty?" I do believe that maybe Pete has something to show to us, and I am willing to provide any support needed.

I don't want to start opening this can of worms again but.....>I would like to ask you, whatever happened
>to the term "Innocent until proven guilty?" I think that all innocence was lost when the debauchery that flooded the forum a few days ago reared its ugly head. FYI, Pete PM'd me two days ago threatening to leave and saying "woooo, you won't get to see my program, you're unlucky, etc, etc". Needless to say, I didn't warrant it with a response.>that maybe Pete has something to show to us, and I am
>willing to provide any support needed. If he does, I'm more than willing to shove a big handful of humble pie down my gullet, and eat my hat for dessert. I'm all up for helping developers in any way I can, but with all the vapourware floating around at the moment, I treat everything with a healthy dose of skepticism.Let's leave this here anyway, I don't want to be blamed for starting a petty row. Back to the trains, I say.Peace,

I'm enquizitive (or inquisitive maybe ) to this program in question.Maybe if us "Joe public" seen some preview or evidence things might get better. It's not good saying here's a screenshot and you're not getting it. Perhaps if you did release it to a select few at the moment on a testing licence things will clear up for you, we don't know what lies behind that screenshot.

I agree..... Let some people see the tool in action. Let them beta test it. Let them help you develop it, anything. But the point is, we need more evidence than just a screenshot. If you have developed this tool (and it works) then that is excellent work, but as Christopher T said, there is a lot more to this than just "bullying"!!!Peace,

>what did he do in crotrainz? i was never signed up to that
>forum. I'm not going to copy it verbatim, it's Barney's site. But suffice
to say he authored at least one thread there saying he was pleased
that the BVE forum on Train-sim.com was going to close. He's authored
threads here on TS in the General forum to the same effect, and
repeatedly locked horns with Wulf and I over what we considered
to be foul language in his sig line that wasn't in keeping with the
forums policies. He went onto another site and accused one of the
members here of copyright infringement without proper proof.

I think that about sums it up. He has his own website, let him
put a forum up and run it his way. Christopher

Erm... maybe this is obvious but if this program really does exist... why not just reverse the route again into a new file and take a quick screen? That should be simple enough.EDIT: Also, the methods in which I got the information I did are not important, the message contained therein is.Tim Frost

>reverse the route again into a new file and take a quick screen?I cant see that a route reverser would be too hard if you used full 3D objects. On my route, I have tried using Exel to reverse it, but this only seems to work for the trackwork, so in conclusion I say that it is possible, but probably hard!Chris Leeshttp://bvecornwall.cjb.net -BVE Cornwall: Providing QUALITY Steam for BVE!

the way i see it is this: you would need to specify a new track to run on. if you are on double track, you obviously can't run on the one you came in on. i think the difficulty would lie in making sure objects are reassinged to the right track. then some objects may not be suited to being turned through 180, unless they are fuly coded (i.e all the way round). the argument of the route reverser is long.....

For what it is worth, one of the nice things about RB is that when you make a route, the reverse run is easy, just export in a different direction. Of course you have to plan your views so that they will look good in both directions, but the two way route creation part is easy.

RE: An Announcement- BVEAC, Leaving

Thats the thing with my reverser (why it won't be released) it goes back on the same track! (it was only for a little fun!)it works only with csv though and uses VB and can be used in Excel with the Macros thingymajig..But its not worth using on routes as its very limied and you must have objects with textures all around, not just the side you see going forward as most routes employ to increase frame rate!

Pete,
I could have made those same buttons in 5 minutes in Visual Basic 6 just like ZB said. You would have to show proof that it worked, or post the visual basic projects files.

RE: An Announcement- BVEAC, Leaving

being a newbie, i have recognised something:joshim wrote:
>Please spare me the embarrasment!
>I can't send this to anyone, its terrible! Sorry!
is this because you dont have one? like people think pete does not have one? i was chatting to someone(i cant remember who now) and they said that this same discussion came up in crotrainz forum, about a route reverser, and how difficult it would be.
joshim commented above about having a route reverser, but no-one has said anything about it, ask for no proof, just pete.
no wonder he's left. it seems that people seem to not want pete, but they do, im not sure, as i did not see his signature, but it seems fine now. I know Pete is still here, because his avatar changed this evening.i think the only way to prove it, is for pete and joshim to realease either:
1)the program itself
2)reverse a route, something simple like the bridgend-pencoed one, or bay park, and then put the route file here.then everyone can see that it works, but not how.
what do you think? joe

This would be Mr Boyd as Joshim has built up a good reputation in the community now whilst Pete has made his own collapse. With Joshim's reputation being good why would he post something that is a lie and could damage this reputation? Joshim is mature and sensible as not to post a lot of falsities. Difficult perhaps but from what I've seen with Joshim's work he's more than capable of such things. Maybe why he doesn't want to send it out is because it is flawed and doesn't want such negativity over it which is what he'll get if it's flawed. Mind you, you get negativity over good work as well now.To be honest Joe Whateveryourlastnamemaybe you remind me of someone from the past who enjoys stirring up trouble. If you are a newbie who has no idea of what happened stay out of it

RE: An Announcement- BVEAC, Leaving

The program is SOOOO bad that it requires heavy knowledege of the way it was programmed is required to use it, in other words it is only I who can use it, and anyone else will find it EXTREMELY DIFFICULT as this was done shortly after learing how to use Visual Basic after my A-Levels! Anyway, it produced some rather odd results, Track 0 is reversed, but 1,2,3 etc. i.e. all the other tracks wre not properly done. Whilst loading in to something like track viewer or even BVE, every 25m will come up with errors (Southern V1 came up with about 25-50 every 25m!)Anyway thats when I discovered that scenery was not coded to be visible on reverse, and that when I began coding my own route. All of this happened when I newly discovered BVE and was tinkering with my knowledge after having got a grade A in my Compuing A-level!So I don't know what you think of me or the others joe (that is cl180) but we certainly don't make false claims. A screen shot of 25 error messages is what you'll get if you wnat them! Hope this clarifies a few things for you all, please get off on the right foot with us, and respect others and make valuable suggestions and comments not wild accusations. All thats left to say is Enjoy BVE!

Honestly, I must admit that some of the comments made by Peter is over the top. I do not agree in what he had mentioned in his parting shot. He has nothing to prove his worthI can clearly remember that I had an argument with him on Crotrainz forum involving copyright issues which Anthony himself also got involved in. Another problem with him is that Peter did suspect BVE programmers that they have copied stuff from the others without permission. This is the last thing we need here. I myself also believe he is indirectly one of the cause the Crotrainz site to be closed and caused lots of protential programmers withdrawing their BVE projects. Hopefully, with his departure, will let other potential programmers in again to produce routes for the BVE community. With regards to copyright, Anthony had made a great step of providing some objects for all to use in his revemped website, providing if we credit him in the project. This is a great step forward and stop protential troublemakers from disputing copyright issues. Peter will not be missed in any BVE forum.
