RE: Regional BVE Route Awards 2003

Good question. Everyone likes different things. I don't think its neccesary. All those routes have had loads of work put into them. They are all good. There is no reason why we should all vote for them

LAST EDITED ON Jun-02-03 AT 06:23 PM (EDT)

Have a look at bve-routes.com, each one has a star rating next to it, there's even a tab marked 'Top Routes'...The problem with this sort of thing is it usually fails to identify all the candidates and creates resentment if someone/something is left out.Competition is generally a good thing, however I don't like the implications of declaring something to be 'better' than something else, they are all personal preferences in the end and opinions vary.I shall be watching these topics closely for any sign of eruption... if any crap starts I shall bin the whole lot of them.Saxon Locomotive Works - "The difficult we do immediately; the impossible takes a little longer"http://www.zodiac-infosystems.co.uk/rail/bve

You have to 'submit' it to them I think - just send an email to them with the details of the route and so forth, and it'll be put up

Yes it is all a matter of opinion and it's just a bit of fun, nothing serious. I can't see why any trouble would start as all the main route designers get along well with each other. The only way trouble will start is if someone (not mentioning any names) deliberately comes on and causes trouble.

RE: Regional BVE Route Awards 2003

I think this is a total waste of time.Be happy that you have BVE routes and don't make awards for them. Congratulate authors for their work but don't rank them. Also, IMO, I think Joshim's DLR preview is far more worthy than my measly central line demo!

RE: Regional BVE Route Awards 2003

John, from my point of view, this isn't a waste of time. It's a vote poll, not the SUPER MTV AWARDS. .Rufus:You know that I care what happens to you.
And I know that you care for me too.
So I don't feel alone, or the weight of the stone
Now that I've found somewhere safe to bury my bone
And any fool knows a dog needs a home
A shelter from pigs on the wing. Snif snif My fauvorite song

RE: Regional BVE Route Awards 2003

In defence of Rufus and Mr Brooker, I think this could be a good idea. However, it needs some careful organization (such as how to make nominations, and other selection criteria) before we all jump into a free on-line poll and declare that "Route X is better than Route Y".We all have our favourite routes: some I drive every day - others less often. And some, to be honest, are still sitting on my HD as zip files, uninstalled. To my mind, the authors and designers of my less-travelled routes are just as worthy of an award as my faves. Anyone who spends many hours/days/months on a project just to give it away deserves all the credit that the BVE community can muster.Chris
