Now, Peter's post had good intent so I'd like to reask the question
to the BVE community. How hard would it be to implement passenger
views in BVE trains instead of the standard panel? You obviously
couldn't look out the window to the side, but maybe a view of the
seats and the aisles like a certain Ju-88 panel was done for
FS98? Thanks Christopher

Passenger views are out already Chris .Classes 158, 170 and 357Along with the GNER HST TGS. Can't remember the URL for the 357 and mine are currently offline undergoing major update. Turbostar (170) is first in the queue.Indeed you can't move in the passenger views but they give a new side to BVE. They can become quite realistic sound wise.As for control I'll be sticking to manual. If you know the route you drive then you'll be able to control it fine. ATC is a possibility but not a good one IMO.

a view out the front so control wasn't too bad. I think when you
get those trains updated I'm going to take a closer look. Christopher

What i really meant, is like what was at the beginning:can you ride a BVE route, not drive it. So you sit in a passenger view and the train goes along like normal, you do not touch the controls, as you are in the passenger seat, not the drivers seat.

The C_Stock passenger view is indeed excellent but full ATO is not possible, as Pete suggested.I do prefer manual mode most times. I am, after all, playing BVE to drive the train, not ride it.If FULL ATO was possible, I certainly wouldn't mind sitting back and letting the computer drive on occasion though. NVTA routes would stay manual, however. Safety requires that trains be manned by a two-person crew: a train operator to drive, and a conductor to make annoucements, open and close the doors, and answer questions from passengers.Tim Frost

Passanger Cabin Assistants(PCA) have responsiblity for and to the

like everyone can go out and shoot thier own in-cab video, at least
legally! So that's a negative from my POV. BVE scenery can be
very good, take the Straßenbahnstrecke der Linie 10 for example.(I
downloaded the AVG train from www.bve-train.de and highly recommend
it on that route.) CRV might have better scenery, but BVE's can be
more personalized.

I went a few weeks ago and got a very realistic passenger view of X-City South, which made Anthonys version look and feel and sound pretty awful by comparison. Sadly it wasn't freeware though (cost about £5 I think), and I had to go all the way to Birmingham to get it. It is supposed to be pretty reliable though, and I've heared its been runnning almost every day none stop for quite a few years now, and hasn't crashed yet. I doubt BVE will ever have a "sit back and enjoy the ride" option, as it would not just be a case of a sevire upgrade to the ATO system, but would require some pretty good AI to make it drive seem it was being driven by a real person. It is designed to simulate driving a train anyway, so it would detracrt from the point a bit, but it might be nice to travel as a passenger, or maybe as the guard, or second man, especially if its a route you'd be unlikely to do in real life ever.

that become the standard, but as an expansion of what can be
done. Just like the blimp and the helicopter for BVE. Christopher

The DLR is really a passenger view type of ride. Looks like the view is maybe 2-3 meters back in the lead car. You have to work for your ride, but it is not difficult:)
