Is it possible to apply a texture to a cylinder?(I want to use this for the lining on a train boiler.)Thanks.Chris Leeshttp://bvecornwall.cjb.net -BVE Cornwall: Providing QUALITY Steam for BVE!
Sure can! Check out Luigi Cartellos Guide to creating objects for BVE at: http://web.tiscali.it/lcartello/ the guide is at: http://web.tiscali.it/lcartello/utilities.html#guida It is called: Guida alla creazione di oggetti per il simulatore BVE in formato DOC (Microsoft Word 97) di BVE Italia fans: Download the Word file It's in Italian but the last pages show how to put a brick texture on a post and the marker for the train station. CSV part is in english so it's easy to figure it outJason
Is there any way this can be translated to Word 6.0 or Rich Text format? Those of us who do not have Word 97(or above) pre-installed on our systems (and do not wish to use pirated copies) cannot read Word97 .DOC files, as WordPad crashes when one attempts to read them. M$ says it's not a bug--WordPad isn't intended to read anything above 6.0.---PCJ, who is now at the stage where he needs to make objects
I was trying for weeks to wrap a texture round a cylinder, but after reading Luigi's guide it all fell into place.I created the gasholders (the cream coloured objects up over the wall) seen in this screeny of my upcoming route (still under construction!) within about 10 minutes of reading the guide. THANKS FOR THE GUIDE LUIGI! They are made by having a larger cylinder with a transparency texture applied "wrapped" around slightly smaller diameter cylinders. Peace, ZB
>They are made by having a larger cylinder with a >transparency texture applied "wrapped" around slightly >smaller diameter cylinders. I guess the frame rate will drop a lot! Especially wih cylinders of more than 5 points! But there are four of those on the picture!
------My favourite LUL train------ HAPPY NOW? It's not moving anymore. It's still the same train but in another livery, that's all.
To be honest, frame rates are not my primary concern. My main ambition with this route is to develop a route of high detail and high standards. If some people can't run it due to low frame rates, too bad. I have already stated that I will, after the release of the high-detail version, consider a low-detail version with the framerate-gobbling objects removed. Maybe. Peace, ZB
>I was trying for weeks to wrap a texture round a cylinder, >but after reading Luigi's guide it all fell into place. > I had the same problem and the same solution sorted it out. thanks luigi
>Those of us who do not have Word 97(or above) >pre-installed on our systems (and do not wish to use pirated >copies) cannot read Word97 .DOC files, as WordPad crashes >when one attempts to read them. >This is not true, becouse at Micro$oft's site there is a free Word 97/2000 viewer available to download:http://office.microsoft.com/downloads/2000/wd97vwr32.aspxCheers, Luigi Cartello http://web.tiscali.it/lcartello/
Well, not true in the sense that you can find a standalone viewer by searching M$'s site. But true in the sense that WordPad will not read them, and that M$ has no intent to change that. They don't even mention the existence of the viewer in their knowledge base when you look for an explanation of the problem.I will give the viewer a try, though.---PCJ
That why I use a cheaper Product, Microsoft works handles word files but 97 and 200 and was a patch for older versions to handle woed 2000 when it came out a it not bad for 50 dollars. The spread sheet program handles most of the formulas out there for BVE in excel format and can view an write csv route formats as well.If people are looking for viewer files from Mr. Bills site try: http://office.microsoft.com/downloads/default.aspx?Product=Word&Version=95|97|98|2000|2002&Type=Converter|ViewerJasonPS I am running windows 98se and was able to view all of the guide with wordpad with no problem.jd
