What was the first route you played on BVE? And How? – image 1

What was the first route you played on BVE? And how did you find BVE?
Mine was Steve Green's underground route downloaded from Crotrainz.
I found it by looking for a MSTS underground route.
I can remember it like it was yesterday. I just guessed the accelerator key, and had a bit of fun.

I found BVE during the hype before the MSTS launch. I read about it on Vern Moorhouse's Trainsim UK site, I thought I'd give it a try (it was BVE 1 at that time), and I was amazed by it! I had been using Mechanik up until that time.I started off with a fictional LUL route from Crotrainz, and started downloading UK content (I think a Class 20 was my first download). I think BVE p*sses all over MSTS for sound and realism.EDIT: My useless spelling

Discovered BVE from a Mechanik site in late 2000. First route was KolineUK, who remembers that? I only downloaded Uchibo in late 2002!--

RE: What was the first route you played on BVE? And How

My daughter bought me MSTS for Christmas 2001 and the damn thing flatly refused to load on my little laptop. About this time last year I was discussing this with my brother and he had found BVE and gave me a couple of addresses.
First route was the Glasgow Underground and that took a while to master in view of no instructions being immediately available, that I could find. Being South London born and bred Steve Green's SR V1 soon found its way into my library as did every LUL route I could get my hands on, although some have been removed as they don't come up to standard.

I found out about Bve from CroTrainz then immediately went and downloaded it. First route was Steve's fictional LUL, then Hammerwich and soon after that I was roaring along the Edin-Dundee, which is where I got started fiddling with a certain Deltic... which became the first SLW loco. The rest, as they say, is history CiaoSaxon Locomotive Works - "The difficult we do immediately; the impossible takes a little longer"http://www.zodiac-infosystems.co.uk/rail/bve

RE: What was the first route you played on BVE? And How

Yes, the Deltic was an obvious choice for my first private route adjustment. Nice loco, Wulf, many thanks for the work. (And is THAT totally inadequate - but what else can I say?) Is it, however, the loco or the route that causes wheelspin at about 85mph so you can't take full advantage of the occasional high speed section?

Hi,Tanks for dem nice wuds sirr!If RHF is wheel-slipping at 85 it kinda makes me think that Scottish steel must be self-lubricating or something You neeed to put in an .adhesion 250 statement just at the beginning of the route code, i.e. under where it says 'With Track' and see if that does it, if not increase the value (max. 500)Ciaop.s. try the 'no. 2 engine starting' trick too Saxon Locomotive Works - "The difficult we do immediately; the impossible takes a little longer"http://www.zodiac-infosystems.co.uk/rail/bve

I found out about BVE by chance, last October, while visiting a greek model railroad page where there was a link to trainsim uk. At that time I was flirting with MSTS but then I noticed BVE.My first route was uchibo, of course (I downloaded BVE version 2.3), and the next was LU Northern northbound from trainsimcentral, together with Linie 10 tramline from BVE train.de.Smile2evan

When I first got the internet about three years ago, I dowloaded Mechanik after searching for train simultors, and found it at http://www.cornish-steam.co.ukAfter searching for various keywoards ascosciated with "British" and "Mechanik" I stumbled across http://go.to/mechanik, which was the predecessor to Trainsimcentral. After Steve anounced he was making routes for BVE, I soon realised there would be no more Mechanik support, so I tried BVE and didn't like it. Turns out what I'd done is used it in the 'game' mode and lost so many points, and the game ended. So I got to grips with it eventually and the first route I'd ever used was the London Tube route by Steve Green, and the Bridgend to Pencoed, which also had an extention available to Pontyclun, although that was much later. --

I've discovered BVE in July, 2001 while surfing the Japanese Rail Society Homepage www.japaneserailwaysociety.org (they have high-quality photos there!).
The report about BVE can still be seen on the Archive's section (July, 2001).
Well, my first route was Tanigumi Line, from Mr. Gaku, starring
Meitetsu Veteran Car 750, with that stunning sounds of motors
'yelling' while accelerating. Superb were the sounds of that
old tram braking, too.
I began to write my first route in September, 2001 and I
finished and released it in December, 2001 when, at the same
time, I opened my site.

I forgot how I found it, but I somehow ended up on Jon's Mechanik page. I saw the T1 in BVE and became interested. I typed BVE into google and crotrainz popped up. I downloaded BVE, and ran DavidReage's YUS subway line version 1. I did't go to the BVE helper site for a while, and did'nt discover the english string table for a month. RE: What was the first route you played on BVE? And How

I discovered BVE through Mechanik, I think it was Steve Green's site. Steve had done British EMU and DMU routes for Mechanik. For those who don't know, Mechanik was a DOS based train simulator written by two Polish University students as a project for school. At the time, I did not have a decent computer, so I could not run BVE, I could only drool. When I finally got a decent machine, I made a beeline to download BVE. Uchibo was the first route, but immediatly after that was the LU Northern Line from Steve's site. That pretty much was the end of Mechanik for me, although I did find a way to run it with Windows XP thanks to a program called VDMS sound, and I occasionaly run the odd route for old times sake.

My first route on BVE was the Fictional LU route I found on Crotrainz.I found BVE thanks to Crotrainz also while I was looking all over the net for a decent train simulator. I had no idea about Trainz or MSTS at this time, though they were both out.All I did for weeks after I finally found BVE was download every route I could find and drive, drive, drive! I've bought both MSTS and Trainz since and neither have the rocking and jostling that BVE does... and makes it so much more real... and also embarrasses me because other family members find me leaning slightly as a train banks into a curve and such! RE: What was the first route you played on BVE? And How

I discovered BVE a little over a month ago, while searching for something to replace my damaged MSTS disks. The first route I drove was the Picadilly Line (all three hours of it!) and from them on I was hooked - the other LUL lines, UK routes, international ...There are too many people to thank - but my favourite route is the Birmingham cross city (a route which I travelled frequently as a student). The simulation is, quite simply, phenomenal, and the creator's attention to detail makes the route makes the route one of the most enjoyable to ride.I look forward to seeing new routes released. Each one tells me that the creator has put in many hours of work, and has more patience than I will ever have! (I can't even draw a straight line with a ruler!)Thanks, guys.

Hi Gang!!I'm a new entrant to the BVE scene after briefly considering other sims (most notable MSTS). Having done a fair degree of surfing and looking at various different sims, I decided that BVE was for me.I downloaded BVE 2.5 on the day of it's released, skipped Uchibo and went straight for Cross City South. It took me a little while to get the hang of the controls (especially the single-handle Class 323), but now I'm away and running. And now I'm starting out on the route-building lark!!Technical NumptyWhat was the first route you played on BVE? I found it in August 2002, searching for "london Underground train simulator"then I ended up at Trainsimcentral, then I just couldn't download BVE, had problems clicking on that CD picture. then 2 days later I finally got it, and went straight back to Trainsimcentral and got the Northern Line from Edgware to Morden! BRILLIANT! then came Kennington to High Barnet and the list is endless...Then I started coding, a bit of a muck about, I started doing an ameteur Jubilee Line (My local line) from Wembley Park to Stratford. I did do it! But did use some others objects as well as CREATING MY OWN!Then I did a bit of a bus route, (which I think I will finish after the DLR), then I started the Dockland Light Railway. I tinkered away then as I gained confidence I contacted Steve Green in what must have been October or November 2002! I have been working away ever since!

I am glad so many of you entered the BVE world through CroTrainz. It makes me happy that I've managed to help at least some of you in enjoying the wonderful world of train simulators. It was not easy to work with Japanese Windows guessing what has to be clicked upon, in order to unzip the files with those pesky Japanese characters but I guess it was worth it...

I found BVE through http://www.trainsim.org.uk/ whilst serching for info on train simulators. I can't quite remember whether my first route was a very simple Preston - Blackpool route, or what became Hammerwich-WoodGreen. One of the first trains I downloaded (maybe the first) was the Class 87. I can't even remember how long ago that was, but it was before BVE 2.

RE: What was the first route you played on BVE? And How

I remember the first route I played on BVE. Last year in early July, I came back from a holiday in London and I was totally fascinated about the London Underground. So I was online looking for anything to do with London Underground. Then I spotted there were routes avaliable but I didn't have a clue at the time what BVE had meant. But I did find the official site and I downloaded the simulator, then I had learnt how to use it. So afterwards once I got a grip with things, I had downloaded the first route that took my attention. That was the wonderfully produced East London Line, an actual line part of the London Underground. I managed to get through the installation process, but at the time, it wasn't that easy, unlike now, where I've time and time again downloaded and installed routes. Afterwards, I tried the route and I was so amazed at how I could drive the route. It felt like as if I was actually there! So afterwards, I took a huge interest in BVE and downloaded many, many routes, from London Underground to National Rail routes etc. I hope I can still continue a collection of routes for BVE and enjoy driving them!
