Green Line Screenshots – image 1

Like the subject says...These are very much works in progress. Constructive critism is always welcome but do keep this in mind when posting. Also note: the Green Line map is inaccurate and only shows some of the stations. I've changed things around to reflect my real plan for the route, it's not like the Red Line extension to the airport. (Which I might add is progressing well ).The new list of stations is: (in order)
Stapleton/Lawrence
Oldbury (x)
Rocklin (e)
Pacific/Newport (d)
University (s)
Newport/Firestone (d)
Hanson (s)
Sunset (s)
Arlington (s)
Great Adventure (s)(Imaginix Corp. Theme Park, name subject to change)
Mission Center (d) (some trains terminate here)
Newport/Compton (d)
Citrus Heights (d)
Bluebird (d)
Redbridge (e)
Evergreen (e)
Farburg Union Station (x)Key:
(s) = downtown station/street running
(d) = seperated right of way
(u) = underground
(e) = elevated
(x) = exclusive right of wayCaption is below each picture.Green Line Screenshots – image 2
The Mission Center station as viewed from between the inbound and 'spare' tracks. Some rush-hour trains terminate here in both directions, but most continue to the line terminals at Farburg Union Station and Stapleton/Lawrence. Note the NVTA control booth on the third floor. This booth controls all rush hour train movements on the Green Line, which is the only line to have two control rooms. During off-peak hours, train movements are controlled from the NVTA Central Control room under Stapleton/Lawrence.Green Line Screenshots – image 3
A T180A articulated light rail vehicle waits for passengers at Mission Center, having come into service only a few moments ago, as rush hour is about to begin. I haven't decided if the trains on the Green Line should be red or white... green just looks icky (I tried) but red is oh-so-cool! Input on this is appreciated.
Green Line Screenshots – image 4
In downtown Farburg the inbound and outbound lines cross so as to run down two one-way streets one block apart from each other. Here the Inbound line (Inbound is towards Nearbug) crosses the outbound line. In this scenario your train is outbound. In a few hundred metres your train makes a sharp turn to the right as well and makes several stops close together while running in the street with other vehicles. If this works out how I want it to, this will be quite stressful, but not without sacrificing fun!

Those look great. You should put some cars on that road, though.
and you should make some of the trams have huge ads on them.Green Line Screenshots – image 7

HAPPY NOW? It's not moving anymore.
It's still the same train but in another livery, that's all.

Imagine the car drivers behind the wehicle, while a handicap passenger embarks during rush hour !!! What about cream over british racing green livery (class and serenity )I can see the vehicle has 4 steps (the staircase will probably fold inside when the door is closed, like the 40's italian trams). Why not try a partialy low floor 3 car set, A and B section as described in the information page of the green line and in between a low floor part, 2-2,5m long, with the epquipment for the handicap persons access (a folding wheelchair ramp I guess) .Smile2evan

RE: Green Line Screenshots

I've read about the Green Line in your homepage and it says it is partially computer operated until stations? I don't think this is really possible if the trains and cars share the road. As both the car and train drivers must be alert in case a car suddenly appears in front of you...

Colour wise, perhaps some green would be good for a 'corporate' look - maybe a stripe or two along the sides? Not sure how visible red would be on the street - perhaps a cream or off white colour would be more suited?Looks excellent anyways - NVTA routes are always welcome

Tim, it looks great and I can't wait to add it to my collection of
NVTA routes. Personally I like the red trains, reminds me of the
NYCTA Redbirds! Christopher

Thanks for all your comments! The steps do indeed fold inside when the doors close. Also, the doors always open onto a platform, even if it is very low, so passengers are never stepping out into the street, and there is no chance of vehicles chopping them off. There's no one in the station because I haven't placed people yet.The interior is very similar to the M1 of course. As for a low-high floor arrangement... the wheelchair lift is built to cycle in under 60 seconds, which is not too much more than the average 20 second dwell time. Also, some stations have high-level platforms (at which point the steps do not come out, only a small gap filler to make the rather large gap smaller due to the pop-out and slide doors) so at high-level stations, wheelchairs can roll right on and off without assistance.Stooopid, as for computer control between stations: you'll notice that not all of the stations are in the street. The train is driver controlled in all street-running situations and is only in automatic mode in tunnels and on elevated structures where the situation can be fully controlled.I think that answers everything. Thanks for the posts! BTW... deliberation on the colour of the vehicles shall continue... And thanks mailer for updating the map! EDIT: I will change the site to reflect the details on the new train when I have time, this is pending, the current info is incorrect.Tim Frost

Very nice screenshots for the Green Line. Excellent work, Tim.Got a suggestion, please electrify the Sea View Central Line with 25Kv overhead line. Based on the NVTA website, this is a diesel line. Most of the commuter railways nowadays are electrified.

I also like the red. Looks a little like the San Diego cars.
