I am opening an Alpha test of version 3 of my BVE File converter. An alpha test is a software test before the Beta test. It means I have a piece of software I THINK works, but probably has bugs. The Alpha test finds the initial bugs before the initial public release. This is an chance for you to participate if you wish. This is a public test. Anyone can be part of this.
I have placed a zip file with the software and a small test object at
http://home.cfl.rr.com/bvefl/Convert_Alpha.zip
It includes a test object and the alpha software.
If you want to look at and comment, download this version.
Here are the requirements and rules
1)Do not distribute this software, it is Alpha software and probably buggy.
2) Do not distribute the link. To participate, people must come here and at least read The beginning of the thread.
3) If you download and use, direct any comments, criticisms and suggestions to this thread on this forum. this is where any problems will be ironed out. If you send me email, please use the Train-sim links to do so.
4) You may not reverse engineer this program. ( If you want the code, ask. I can probably use the help) Software is VB.
5) The first time you post, please indicate your system configuration: Operating system ( with service packs) video and processor.
End of rules
Much of the alpha version is disabled, only the parts that I want input on at this time work. New to this version
1) The ability to scale in any one axis at a time
2) The ability to rotate in any one axis any angle. I think 1 works pretty well, but I have not used it in complex objects. Note that Cylinder, rotate, cube and Translate commands may not work ( and may never) or will produce odd results. Scaling a cylinder command in one direction does not work any way because of the way the command works. Note 2, I have a solution for this that I will post later this weekend)
I think 2 will work in a limited version. I have noted some odd results with large ( greater that 45 degree) rotations.
See the picture below for a view of the controls. As input is recieved and updates created, I will post new links as needed. Thank you for your assistance.
