My backgrounds are shown three times, and when the texture is uneven the split becomes very noticeable, as in this picture. Is there anything I can do about this? Martin
backgrounds must be 256*128 or however multiple of them ....may be this is the cause of your problem.... To avoid the split, the right side of the background must be, for example, a mirror image of the left side.
It looks to me like you could get away with that background if you rotated the bitmap image by 90 degrees! So then the dark cloud would be at the top rather than at one side.HTH
Maybe you could try using a slight .fog command to cover up the sky then!
-----You are reading my signature now, don't waste your time reading it!----- Or probably, maybe you should waste your time reading it. Eh, where did my signature go? Oh, here it is, the one you are reading right now? Can't you see it? I know I know, it's probably too bright to see it. Hey, look at my avatar, nice right? I drew it with my own hands holding the mouse in Paint, with the pencil tool(and the Filling tool!)! It's a picture of me in Planet Stooopid, where everything is the same as what you call "Earth" except that we are called "aliens" in your planet. Anyway, I warned you not to waste time reading my signature! You have just wasted probably about 30 seconds reading it, where you could have spent the time doing better things, like maybe reading the next post below if there is one...
>Yes, maybe. Could you suggest a combination? And how would >you start and end it without being too obvious? Martin Probably, .fog 300,600,200,200,200, But you'll have to try it out yourself for the best combination.

>Maybe you could try using a slight .fog command to cover up >the sky then! Why? It looks perfectly good as it is.Fog is useful for achieving interesting effects (e.g. gloom and dazzle when entering and leaving tunnels) and for where the sight-lines are very open and objects would otherwise just miraculously appear. Otherwise I'd just leave it alone. Wait until you've got all the objects in place and then decide whether or not fog is needed. If you're worried about the symmetry of the sky you can always use an image editor to change the middle part of the bitmap. As long as the left and right hand edges match it won't matter what you do with the middle. The other thing you could try is to use a slightly less obviously textured bitmap. The more definition there is the more obvious any patterns it contains will be.HTHTN
