I just received an email which my mailserver virusscanner picked up as containing the Bagle J virus.Normally I just dismiss these and pet the good little scanner, but this one was sent from "me" (read: infected person) to Stephen Cross. This leads me to believe its on the system of someone in the BVE community.Note that this is not an accusation towards anyone, just a logical deduction. If anyone here has openend any questionable attachments lately and thinks it may be them, could they give their system a quick run thru with a virus scanner.Cheers.-- Richard Gellman
The problem at present is that there is a lot of Email spoofing going on. I've had dozens of Emails from what looks to be friends/relatives/etc but with the usual stupid subject lines like "Hi/Important/Read this/Joke". There is almost always an attachment too, but all get stopped by my virus checker. Virii are easily spread by anyyone who casually drops their Email addresses around the forums. Keep your anti-virus signatures up to date and be vigilant.Tony H Midlands 25Kv
>The problem at present is that there is a lot of Email spoofing going on.Which is why I normally dismiss them. But the viruses get their email addresses from the hard drive, which means this one was sent from a machine holding both mine and stephen's email addresses. Granted, it may just be a spammer involved in a coincidence, but it does suggest someone involved with BVE may have inadverently started one up.Incidentally, the IP address is of a machine on an NTL connection:80.1.84.28 (m28-mp1.cvx3-b.pop.dial.ntli.net).-- Richard
Well that excludes me...I don't have either of your addiesSeriously though, Richard, it's good that some of us post these virus problems on this forum. If it makes just a few people look at their anti-virus measures then it will be worthwhile.
