RE: Class 323 with BVE4 plug-in and Maybank for BVE4 no

Steve,Congrats on another stunning release. If it wasn't for the fact that I was driving a 323 and not a 377, I could easily haved dreamed that I was at work.Just had to have a TPWS activation just for the sake of it (wouldn't get away with it for real!), its so realistic, and a working DRA and AWS sunflower, brilliant!I'm really looking forward to the development of more trains and routes for BVE 4.CheersRob

RE: Class 323 with BVE4 plug-in and Maybank for BVE4 no

Some of the BVE4 file locations are a bit more difficult to understand but I'll try and give you some pointers, (no pun intended).First, you must have BVE v4.0.1670.4801. If you are unsure go to the official BVE web site http://chiba.cool.ne.jp/mackoy/ and get the latest version.
Second, the folder for British signals must be under ..\whatever_your_BVE_folder_is\Railway\Object. For example mine is: \BVE\Object\BRSigs.
Third, the older versions of the class 323 are now no longer needed so backup the folder and then remove the live one and install Steves latest version cl323 (v3.0.16.09) from his website (http://www.trainsimcentral.co.uk/). The location is still the same as earlier versions of BVE, ..\whatever_your_BVE_folder_is\Train.All of these are mandatory and this new plug in and route will not work unless you have these files installed. All earlier versions of the files will give problems.Tony H

RE: Class 323 with BVE4 plug-in and Maybank for BVE4 no

Hi TonyI have the correct BVE 4 version and I have installed the BrSigs file in my main c\program files\BVE\Railway\object file, as instructed in the download. It is a common file for BVE (2.6 - 4). Please note that when the route loads, no missing file is reported. Still, the signs are not visible I have also dowloaded the new train that works fine except the speedometer problem. The same problem I have with Martin Finken's train for BVE 4. I run BVE (2.6 - 4) in a new laptop (HP Pavilion 5271 with a 9000 Ati mobility radeon graphics card -128 mb)and no previous versions of the train or the route exist in my hard disk.Smile2evan

Thanks for confirming the file locations etc. It's odd that your laptop cannot display the signals. I wonder what else it isn't showing. I'm sure that it won't be just signals and instrument pointers. I believe that some laptops do have display problems with BVE and I can only say that I would probably try downloading/re-installing the appropriate display drivers. Also DirectX 9.0b, and the .net framework software also has SP1 out, which fixes some bugs and security problems. I would have thought that if you get a full screen cab and route scene, then the 128Mb ATi 9000M would be quite capable.I'm sorry I can't help you more.Tony H

RE: Class 323 with BVE4 plug-in and Maybank for BVE4 no

HiIs it significant that the signals are defined in .x format? I don't think any of the Maybank objects are, so if it were a problem with rendering .x it would just be the signals (and possibly Mackoy defines the speedo needle as .x).Doesn't solve the problem, though, sorry!Simon

That sounds like a possibility. The only Maybank object files with .x format are the AWS ramps, so if you can't see any then that's the reason. Like Simon says though, it doesn't help you smile2evan.Tony H

I was thinking about the problem that your having I tried to see if I could recreate it but couldn't. Although I have one thought have you installed .NET Framework 1.1? Because as I understand it most of the program is developed on C++ and only some of the newer functions use the .NET Framework so that might explain what the problem is.AL

I downloaded BVE4 yesterday along with .NET 1.1 from Microsoft's website. I have a ATI Radeon 9600.Somebody help please...

RE: Class 323 with BVE4 plug-in and Maybank for BVE4 no

BVE has always run better using NVidia graphic cards, but I've never understood what it is that ATi haven't implemented with their products. I think all those people who have this problem should post their ATi driver versions to see if there is anything common. In fact if any of you have an ATi board, and it runs BVE4 perfectly, then you should post too so that we can all learn something. Please be sure and download /install the LATEST .net version 1.1 SP1 and DirectX 9.0c from Microsoft. There needs to be some common ground before doing any comparisons.Tony H

>Smile2evan If you don't like to choose the U.S.English as default in international settings of Windows (Control Panel), you can do something like I've done with my Italian version. What's offendig BVE4 is the comma as decimal point separator and the full stop as thousands separator.Cheers,

RE: Class 323 with BVE4 plug-in and Maybank for BVE4 no

I usually don't care much for fictional routes or modern EMUs, but driving the 323 on the Maybank route has to be one of the best train sim experiences I've had in quite a while. BVE4's increased screen size, higher resolution, and glowing signals allow you to drive much more visually, without relying on the cues that used to appear on the right panel. Since you can actually see the signals and stations from a reasonable distance, I kept good time without violating any signals or overshooting any stations on my first run--something I'd never achieved on an unfamiliar route. The more lenient stopping positions at stations were a big help, and new features like notch sounds and fully working warning/vigilance systems add to the realism (though the nagging of latter does get a bit annoying--I wonder if real-life drivers think the same). But enough praise; I do have a question. What is the driver-to-guard buzzer for?

RE: Class 323 with BVE4 plug-in and Maybank for BVE4 no

HiGlad you like the train. On the real thing, a bell or buzzer is used by the driver and guard to exchange information and instructions - the codes they use are listed at www.rodge.force9.co.uk/faq/bellcodes.html.Each signal has to be acknowledged by repeating it, which is what the buzzer in the 323 is for. It doesn't actually do anything except make a noise, but it makes me feel better.By the way, at the moment the only codes you'll hear are 'Ready to Start', and 'Draw Forward' if you fail to stop within bounds (even if you overshoot). These are standard BVE sounds and not generated by the plugin.Cheers
