Hiya, I've noticed a hell of a lot of questions about the setting up of BVE, the programming of BVE and more especially of late, the handling, downloading and 'line compatibility' of BVE 4.Now being a 'driver' rather than a 'coder' I'm not going to touch BVE 4 with a Bargepole. The moment, however, that someone reports that it is available for 'proper download' then I probably will. However, could it be put, as a 'stickie' perhaps? where one can go to Learn About Coding, or to Learn about Downloading etc. So that on this discussion board - people have just the one 'thread' to check out to go forth and diversify?I apologise for this post, I have just seen an open air production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, where the general rule was to bring what you like to drink, which we did, and it has had the inevitable warming feeling! So I have merely written 'A Muse' on thoughts, as they came to me! I am looking forward to the next level of realism that No. 4 will bring - Not to mention the EXTRA two fingers to Microsoft! It would be nice, though if someone could sit down with us 'user's' Hold our hands, and say "Don't worry, your computer won't become incompatible overnight. You will still be able to drive BVE routes, and you won't be left behind BECAUSE THERE ISN'T ANYONE TO EXPLAIN IT TO YOU!"I'll shut up now, contract into the foetal position, and go to sleep.Good Night!PS: A Complete guide to coding, by some nice, kind person, wouldn't go amiss! I do appreciate all you do, not to mention the hard work! Hey! I had a ZX81 once!!! I know what it is to spend all day programming - only to lose it all after a power surge!!!!!PPS (For those under 20 - A ZX81 was the second ever affordable computer that you could program)
ADOBVE 4 uses the same coding characteristics as bve 2.6 although there are some issues with transparency regarding the textures, but these are very minor and easily corrected! As it stands you could just build your route in routebuilder.. but if you want to hand code routes the way to code routes hasnt changed. There are a few differences regarding the trains but these havent been properly explored yet, and i expect mackoy to release a new train editor shortly!Ill say this about bve 4!Although not yet properly and fully understood...the tests performed so far shows that bve 4 will blow MSTS out of the water in terms of driver realism!Dont like bve 4??? im afraid you will have to get to like it, if you want to drive all the new features. Its gotten to the point where i believe ill have to redraw the 31, 33, 67, 143, 304 and 47s panels as an alternative because once its fully showed to you ull never use bve 2.6 again!feel free to drop me an email and ill explain anything you would like to know, then when its in a format you feel happy with ill gladly request its posted in a sticky for all to see
Good God! Surprise surprise - I'd forgotten I'd written that!!!Thanks for the kind reply. When I have reconstructed my thoughts I will try and come up with something intelligent!*Groans, slightly*
>Good God! Surprise surprise - I'd forgotten I'd written >that!!! > ...Think but this, and all is mended, That you have but slumber'd here While these visions did appear
