RE: Information on Heavy Coal route

That's one of the multitude of files I've been waiting for when
Barney finally reopens Crotrainz. I image when he does reopen
the site it will be worth the wait. Christopher

RE: Information on Heavy Coal route

I have heavy coal
this route have some trouble to survive on new versions of bve ,
load have no-fatals errors.
In 2.5.3 it posible again to climb(without modify the grip loco)
the heavy ramps with heavy load(coal).
The route is half climb and half descent (more fun)
but there no info about the author.
don't know if posting without knowledge of the autor is permited

I wanted to e-mail the author but I can't spot his address. Anyway, since the route is not hosted anywhere, I don't think it is against the rules to be sent by e-mail.Smile2evan

RE: Information on Heavy Coal route

I think Crotrainz only had the Heavy Coal route designed for BVE version 1, anyway. This might be the reason for the error messages. A later version of the route for BVE2 is available for download from the files area of the Yahoo BVE group.

RE: Information on Heavy Coal route

First of all thank you for your information. The file in Yahoo BVE group, does not contain the objects...!!! , so I think that it would be better if someone with a high reputation like Wulf, hosted the route (not to mention the triple header loco). Anything I could do to help getting the relevant permission from the author, please let me know.Smile2evan

RE: Information on Heavy Coal route

So, since the permission is given by rhe author, Wulf would you please host the route as you proposed (even for a limited time)??? I am very tempted with the modified loco as well (I am sure it will be a little gem as always ).Smile2evan

LAST EDITED ON Apr-25-03 AT 02:49 PM (EDT)

you must know that the route is scheduled
for 1hour and 15 minutes.
and in original version in 2.5.3 bve
the ascend is mostly slow because of heavy load
some sections never go up 40 km/h with full throttle
and praying there will not wheel slide.(motor sound do some snap?)
the ascend section is a full throttle when possible
and watch the train slllloooowwwwlllllyyyy get momentum.
also the middle schedule is wrong now 00.00 so
up and red goes the bottom bar and angry the smiley.
The downside is more fun dealing with air brake
with 22% down gradient.. very personal opinion:
for air brakes ,even if is not real, I will recommend
to change the sound of "Brake.wav" of "Nswgr_46" train
very short by other "enoden 300" more long or better
of the nosy japan loco "dd51_kame" .(this is to get more feedback)
also it 's surely possible to create a white noise(ssshhh)
with 5 or 6 sec long with in and out fade, using a sound generator.

I will try it also with the "dd_51kame" diesel loco. I think it will be fun. But I still do not have the route!!!! Could you please sent to me? You have PM !!!Smile2evan

I think if you re-read Bruce's reply as quoted by Frog3, you will notice he is only giving permission for the files to be EMAILED to one user. That is most certainly not permission to upload it for public consumption. Ask him again, if SLW can host the route and the modified MV46 train, if he says 'yes' then please reproduce that reply here so I can see it done.CiaoSaxon Locomotive Works - "The difficult we do immediately; the impossible takes a little longer"http://www.zodiac-infosystems.co.uk/rail/bve

Wulf_9 is right ,
also make a point at
the email quoted have got references and emails address removed ,
but I can privately send the full email to really concern peopleClarify that this route is a little tedious (for me at least)when ascending(~45m),
is like walk up a path 15 minutes with your skate board
for a 2 minutes of pleasant down ride.

LOL That's the challenge of this route - getting the train moving, and, more importantly, controlling the descent. This is why you poor sods using Bve 2.5 will have trouble, you need the progressive air brake of 2.3 CiaoSaxon Locomotive Works - "The difficult we do immediately; the impossible takes a little longer"http://www.zodiac-infosystems.co.uk/rail/bve

"That's the challenge of this route - getting the train moving, and, more importantly, controlling the descent."
Agree.
And I like the heavy coal route just trying not over hype "smile2evan" expectations. "you poor sods using Bve 2.5 will have trouble, you need the progressive air brake of 2.3"
No agree.(In my case)I have no trouble using air brakes and my favorites locos is
theses with air brakes, like cl 101
error !!upps it's not air brakes originally
it 's just a modification by me(speak to much).

(must say that I 'm using joystick with my program joy4bve before I had trouble with air brakes like everyone)And also I 'm newbie in Bve so I have no version bellow 2.4(this not a request).

Here is my e-mail sent to Mr Kennewell and his reply:_______________""""_________________________----- Original Message -----

Subject: Permission to host Heavy Coal BVE route

Attention: Mr Bruce Kennewell

Dear Sir

As you may already know, your BVE "Heavy Coal" route, cannot be downloaded from the official hosting site (crotrainz.com), since all downloads of the above site have been currently suspended. The matter was brought up in trainsim.com discussion forum and it seems that several BVE funs would like to download the route (see http://www.train-sim.com/dcforum/DCForumID17/168.html#17). Wulf_9 who runs the excellent Saxon Locomotive Works site, proposed to host the route and train (some other previously "lost" routes are now hosted in the "Despatch Office" of the same site - see Wulf's site http://www.zodiac-infosystems.co.uk/rail/bve/). Wulf, who is one of the moderators of the above trainsim.com forum and also one of the few people now dealing with top-quality train developing for BVE, has also modified your original NSWGR 46-class locomotive, to a MV46 3000-ton triple-header loco.

If you agree with the above, we would like your permission, to host the route (including both existing versions and any other version you might add now) and modified loco, in the above SLW site.

Best regards

Akis Giftopoulos
(for trainsim.com forum "smile2evan")

Reply:Dear Akis,
No worries - go for it!
I'm flattered that my work is still of interest and you have my permission to host it anywhere that you like.

And thank you for extending me the courtesy of asking - that was most gentlemanly of you.

Best regards,
Bruce.

Well, smile, that is most impressive, if a wee bit formal, lol I think I am not that rare a thing, a developer of quality trains, just that some of the other 'big guns' are biding their time until they feel it's right for them again. There is definitely no shortage of train makers still working, in fact some new developments are feeding through SLW on their way to final release, just be patient Ok then, since this looks like a green flag from Bruce K., watch the SLW site for updates p.s. Barney, if you're reading this, you can have the new files to add to the CT downloads as soon as you want them CiaoSaxon Locomotive Works - "The difficult we do immediately; the impossible takes a little longer"http://www.zodiac-infosystems.co.uk/rail/bve

I personaly look forward to every new train of SLW.That's all!!! Smile2evan

For sure Thanks *News Item*Since checking again, I realised that I made a customised run sound set for this train, fortunately the v2 route is in csv so I am gonna make it TSS before release - it will be worth it CiaoSaxon Locomotive Works - "The difficult we do immediately; the impossible takes a little longer"http://www.zodiac-infosystems.co.uk/rail/bve
