From what it appears to be saying, you can specify your own signals, and have a panel that gets dark!

It's a link to the beta. The beta is awesome. It gets tricky because you don't have a startup screen, instead you have to right click, hit open, and manually open what route you want.
Beyond that, it is freakin' awesome! I was just riding the Uchibo line. Some more new sounds, like the clicking of the contols, etc, and the most amazing thing I saw was when I went under a bridge, it had a shadow! What detail!

Mackoy seems to have improved some of the problems I was having with pausing and gradual degradation of performance over time with Watford to Rugby, it's somewhat better now - thank you Mackoy. There are some nice lighting effects, driving an unmodified route with lots of curves espcially a high speed route gives an effect on the ground and objects which isn't unlike the effect of the sun going behind cloud and emerging again - very nice. I don't know of the "ATS plugin" information on the beta site might be useful for anyone who knows a bit of C++ or whatever. If you right click, select Options, then the User tab, and select the Development option, you then get a "Viewer Mode" option on the right-click context menu - another nice feature. Cheers,
Anthony.--

upon attempting to run the ECML I ended up just sitting there unable to move with the whistle blowing and the doors repeatedly banging shut. PLus there is still the problem with panels appearing wrongly sized. possibly an error on my part. However, the columns supporting the roof canopy came up looking amazing, a lot better then before. And the uchibo line was simply amazing. I still don't have english language for the new version. something about it not being available from microsoft.
mackoy really has excelled himself!

BVE V4 Beta Released ! – image 12

While attempting to install it, I'm receiving the following message:
'the language of this installation pack is not supported by your system'Maybe BVE 4B is in japanese lingo?
Is there an english version of BVE 4B available? My PC still uses Win98SE, with BVE 2.6.3 and BVE 2.9 beta installed.
I am using the english language in the regional settings due to BVE compatibility
although my Windows is in Portuguese, maybe could be this the cause?
Any help is very appreciated, I'm stuck here, thanks in advance,Regards,(Now with videos)

RE: BVE v4 BETA RELEASED !!!!!

LAST EDITED ON Jul-07-04 AT 03:36 PM (EST)

I am having a few problems:
1.Every route I've tried (6 or 7)has generated an error and would not function except for the new Uchibo and my own Blueridge which ran fine. Most routes gave an Unhandled Exception Error(length must be greater than or equal to zero etc.);FGC kept giving a "File Type is not Invalid(yes-Invalid)"error as it loaded, what ever that means.
2.When I renamed the japanese string,so it wouldn't be used, and renamed the english string to "string" so it would be used, the program wants to reinstall, which it does from the installer so the strings are back to what they were.
OS is WinXP,2.9 worked fine (I uninstalled it before installing 4.0)
Anyone else having problems?Any explanations?Thanks

and the string-En.ini to string.ini.
Than BVE works without reinstall and the english ini is working.greatings

Maybe he called it v.4 when he saw we were expecting a v.3 after 2.9 came out and wanted to show we can't predict what he'll do next-which is true of course.Anyone else getting an "Unhandled Exception" error upon opening an .rw route;.csv routes seem to run ok?

When you're installing, when you indicate what directory you want to install BVE V4 into, there's an option at the bottom. What does that mean? I've tried installing both of them(uninatlling first of course, then reinstalling with the second option), but I see no difference.

-----You are reading my signature now, don't waste your time reading it!-----
Or probably, maybe you should waste your time reading it.
Eh, where did my signature go?
Oh, here it is, the one you are reading right now? Can't you see it? I know I know, it's probably too bright to see it.
Hey, look at my avatar, nice right? I drew it with my own hands holding the mouse in Paint, with the pencil tool(and the Filling tool!)!
It's a picture of me in Planet Stooopid, where everything is the same as what you call "Earth" except that we are called "aliens" in your planet.
Anyway, I warned you not waste time reading my signature! You have just wasted probably about 30 seconds reading it, where you could have spent the time doing better things, like maybe reading the next post below if there is one...

How can I install BVE V4 Beta on USA English version of Windows XP Pro? I installed MS NET Frameworks 1.1. When I try to install BVE, I click on the left button in the first dialog box, the "Y" button on the second dialog box and the only button that I can click on is the "C" button on the third dialog box.

RE: BVE v4 BETA RELEASED !!!!!

Tom, you are absolutely right. I have a bunch of .rw routes (i find it easier to read, write and edit) and this version is useless if that routes can't be run. Unfortunately, I think that converter won't be offered so soon, it's much more difficult than csv-b3d and b3d-csv object converter.

I think that Brr functions as an RW > csv converter. I forget if it is 9 or 10, but the route is converted into brrtemp.csv I have not tried it with beta 4 yet, but I guess it would work.Edit Later. I did try with Brr10, it does convert the files to CSV and seems to work, although I did get the unhandled exception error on some routes even when converted.

I erased all the brrtemp files, ran brr10 with a rw file and got a brrtemp.csv. I hava actually used this to do the first step conversions from an rw to csv file and then hand edited for extra items.

Anyone had any luck with a joystick and v4? I tried and just as in 2.9, the programmed buttons (eg. I have the trigger mapped to the train Klaxon sound) on my Sidewinder work but no joy with the axis controls. In other words, no brakes or power. BTW, joystick works fine with 2.6.

Well I really don't know whats going on, however, Ive found if you dont go through the stop signal then youll be ok Also, if you loose power going through green or Caution, next time your at them, make sure you are just rolling through the signal with power at idle.

I just wanted to try out BVE Version 4, but I got the same problem as with the 2.9 Beta. After loading a route there is just a black screen, although sounds and controls work very well. With 2.9 the problem could be solved by setting to english environment in the Windows control panel (because I'm using German Windows). But it doesn't work with the new Version 4.Any ideas?

RE: BVE v4 BETA RELEASED !!!!!

And if you check the BVE official site, you will find the turtorials for rw routes is not there any more either.b2d->csv can be fixed with my converter (shame less self plug). Perhaps we need to consult with the BRR creator to see if he can release the RW > CSV conversion module of BRR10 as a seperate module

RE: BVE v4 BETA RELEASED !!!!!

Does anyone know or have a list of the full keyboard Controls for it? I'm a little rusty on BVE and was excited to return to trainsims when i heard of the new beta only to find i am hopeless at driving it! LOL.
