Is it possible to develop such signals. I'm sure that it would be more realistic and interesting. Could that be done in near future. I was inspired by one .gif (yellow and green) blinking semaphore on Saxon Locomotive Works page.
No, sorry, it is not yet possible. Everything in BVE is static except signals changed by BVE, and the only way to make something 'moving' is to draw something for example 400 m ahead, and redraw upon it, at the same place, with something else 200m later. But you are right. Many railways are using blinking signals.
Acctually you can but, it take a LOT of work to do. Jon who is developing the TTC BD line has found out how to make flashing signals they only flash every 25m. If i can get ahold of him i will find out the full details.Andrew Larson
>flashing signals they only flash every 25m. The method which he is using would be easy to guess. He is making use of BVE 25m object unloading feature, the same way as how the Southern route semaphores change colour, or the DLR signals.
-----You are reading my signature now, don't waste your time reading it!----- Or probably, maybe you should waste your time reading it. Eh, where did my signature go? Oh, here it is, the one you are reading right now? Can't you see it? I know I know, it's probably too bright to see it. Hey, look at my avatar, nice right? I drew it with my own hands holding the mouse in Paint, with the pencil tool(and the Filling tool!)! It's a picture of me in Planet Stooopid, where everything is the same as what you call "Earth" except that we are called "aliens" in your planet. Anyway, I warned you not to waste time reading my signature! You have just wasted probably about 30 seconds reading it, where you could have spent the time doing better things, like maybe reading the next post below if there is one...

Cant you just get the signal to be replaced? Okay so you go along the track, but if you set it that every 2 meters the signal BMP is replaced, then replaced back with the original a further 2 Meters down the track, then surely it would look like it was flashing?
I experimented with the flashing yellow system 2 years ago and got very poor results.essentially, it only seemed to work in track viewer, and only if you ran up to the signal, and reversed again. I then got problem with the way that BVE rendered approaching textures in a circular motion with some areas becoming transparent as you approached, exposing the signal behind. I substituted two alternating markers designed to attract the eye away from the screen until the signal is passed.british signals flash at 1.2Hz which adds up to around 70 cycles/min.This also required for the alternating distance to be set according to the likely speed of an approaching train. If mackoy could enable .gif support then all these factors would go out of the window.
