Hi Gang!!If like me you can remember all of these things the first time round, then you are a child of the 70's (or a parent of a child of the 70's). In fact, today is my 30th birthday.I don't suppose for one minute that I'm the oldest person on this list but, now that I have reached this particular landmark birthday, I do feel a bit like "playing trains" should be one of the things I put away some years ago. So I thought I'd take this opportunity to ask a quick question for those people who are the same age as me or older in an attempt to get some validation for my hobby. When you are using BVE, what do you spend more time doing?Technical Numpty

Hi Gang!!Thanks to everyone who has voted so far. Keep them coming. Can I just reiterate that I really just want to get the votes from the over 30 age group here.Cheers!!TN

>Cant even remember being 30<....Silly ole far*.I'm like you Arthur, way past "playing with trains" too. But for anyone who thinks that by now you should have got past that stage, I can assure you that you NEVER get past it. I'm just coming up to my 60th and I still love it all...especially BVE.Happy 30th TN.I vote for 50% doing add-ons and 50% playing...er, operating.Tony H Midlands 25Kv

Happy Birthday indeed!I will admit to Just Playing Trains. I haven't done any programming since the days of me ZX81. I may get around to trying a bit of coding sometime..........Maybe.I'm 35, as is my partner, who after initially laughing at my playtime - gradually got drawn in and drives a mean train herself occasionally, using the excuse that it's 'very therapeutic,' after a hard day's work!

TN, Happy Birthday,I'm 41, and my challenge is to get Japanese routes working on western Windows, (and I succeed most of the time), even with a D grade English comprehensive education !John

Hi Numpty,Coming up to 34 now, still love trains and transport. As for putting away the hobby, that will only happen if I stop enjoying it.As far as validation is concerned I have found that the older you get the more easily accepted it is by ones peers(the girlfriend calls it cute, the lads at work and in the local bars all know and accept it(most of them are supporters of less than successful football teams anyway so who are they to talk?)).I have tried coding a route but found it much too time consuming so spend precious time driving(playing),there's nothing like a few dozen miles of BVE at a good volume with a couple of beers to unwind after a hard days work or babysitting! Many happy returns(birthdays and tickets),Dave P.PS Standing up whilst pedalling in third gear on a grifter almost put paid to the babysitting problem, anyone who has ridden one will know what I mean.......

Hi Everyone!!Thanks for the birthday wishes. You've all made me feel heaps better about being involved with BVE and have given me all the validation I need to continue playing as well as coding. Some of my (ahem) trendier peers do think that I'm a bit weird, but I shall say that I have the support of the BVE community tell them all where to get off (taking care to mind the gap and not to alight when the doors are closing, naturally).I do stop just short of going "chuff, chuff, chuff, chuff, woo-woooooo!!" as I walk around the office, but only just.Best regards to all!!TN

Happy Birthday! I spend my time developing BVE addons (italian objects) and a line called Alifana (see the sign). I don't know when it'll be ready for download, because I have serious problem with my PC. When I'll finish it, I'll inform you.
-- Alifana Railway (Italy): Km 41.246, single diesel track with 50UNI rails. 8 stations and 4 stops. Trains: Aln663, Aln668, Aln773/880, BR211.

Happy Birthday TNI'm 36 y.o. and I always liked anything that had to do with trains. Till now I was only driving trains in BVE but recenlty I got into coding just to get the impression and I find it dangerously addictive !!! Smile2evan
