I know it might be a little early, just wondering how everyone was doing with the routebuilder and has anyone created any masterpieces in this short time

Ive been getting to grip with routebuilder throughout the day. Its a very decent program, although ive come up against two major downsides (could be my error though) so I cannot see what my route looks like at the moment in real BVE. Have a look at what Ive done within the program itself. This is the first station in my route. (Attachment)
The pink and blue lines represent the tracks, you can see its a two track station, but then turns into single line. The gray part are the platforms, which auto format themselves to align with the tracks. Left of that you can see the road which is the large yellow rectangles and the barbed wire fence which are the smaller ones. The object library is very comprehensive and hosts most sort of object you could find on a railway. At the moment, the track doesnt have smooth curves (one of the problems I'm having). But that shows the progress I made in about 10 minutes of coding...::Retro Kid::..

Ok heres a screenshot of something slightly different than above, but it was created by me in Routebuilder in about 15 minutes. This is still rough work so please dont criticise the work ive done...::Retro Kid::..

RE: How is your Routebuilder going ????

I haven't jumped headfirst into the manual yet, but I did play
with the first tutorial. I find the use of bevier curves unusual,
usually that's something seen in a high-end graphics program like
PSP7. I had expected fixed radius sections that could be
connected to the other tracks. The switches seem a little unusual
too. A connection with three points becomes a switch automatically,
and the exact form is left to the author I guess. I'd like to see
a grid to work on, though I might have missed it. (A snap to
grid would make long sections easier to align too.) I will say one thing. This is a very respectible program and I
don't think we'll see too many people turning out "route-a-day" type
projects. It's going to be a week or so till I stop getting errors
because I didn't delete something correctly or I tickled it the
wrong way. Christopher

Yeh, the first tutorial doesnt look like the one on the manual, but is still the same. I get the access violation a lot, but give it some slack, it was only released today ...::Retro Kid::..

for me it´s run ok, make a test route and drive it ok.
one no fatal error loading route in bve.
And when using routebuilder,
get Violations errors when I trying to do something wrong
like , try to place a station without selecting track
but no severe crash.
My experience with this kind of errors
is because there is not enough checks of no wanted actions of the user
It´s very dificul to anticipate what users should do.
The huggly message"Access Violations errors 0xedcff00a0344"
should be
"ping ,please select active track" this will be resolve easy with feedback of users
in bugs tracking systemauto beta tests never work 100%note:Right now I have not interes in building route
even if I get some ideas.
just trying.

you use the "Delete from route"? option, you'll likely cause that
error. I think the "delete from route" is used to remove points from
the Primary route. Christopher

"delete from current route" means "delete from current route definition" (but that was too long) and shouldn't even be available if no route definition is active. Bug fixed. Next Uwe

RE: How is your Routebuilder going ????

Uwe, I'd just like to point out that I have a P2 Celeron 300mhz
system with 64 megs ram, and I've had no problems compiling routes
at all. It's averaging 30-60 seconds and certainly there's no time
to get a cup of coffee after all. Each time I get into it and work
with the tutorials another piece of the puzzle clicks into place. I'm
looking forward to spending a lot of time honing my design techniques,
right now I'm at Early Neanderthal! (Lots of brute force!) Excellent work! Thanks! Christopher

RE: How is your Routebuilder going ????

Roughly said, export duration increases by *square* of connection count. Build a layout as complex as i.e. the NOKIA-Bahn and have two or three cups until export is done ...Uwe

RE: How is your Routebuilder going ????

I haven't really had time to look at it in close detail, but I'm confused a little about it, so i'm off to read the manual
