I agree - to see the same products that spurred Mr. Mackoy into producing Bve would be VERY interesting... a review done by John would be able to view both side-by-side and give a good overall impression of the state of the art as the payware makers see it... RE: OT Denshya De Go

Hi, Right lads,I'll get on with doing a review for it.BTW if you have broadband you should be able to DL the demo.
(Its of a tram line in Osaka) 63Mb and runs around 10 minutes. The first link SHOULD be able to get it going on a XP western system. The prices are very reasonable for the 4 titles available, most have been available for the PC at about 5000 Yen, (thats about 7 UK Pounds or US$ 10) each. and I've found a company which will let you import the titles into Europe or the US for a reasonable costI'll get the review up probably tomorrowJohn

RE: OT Denshya De Go

I second what you say John, these games are very good.I notice that the other demos on the Unbalance site have gone, you could also download Densha De Go 3 and Densha De Go Shink(the high speed train).
They worked fine with XP, but being demo's you don't get much time.
DDG3 was good as it was mainly commuter runs and I liked it at a station as you got a side view of the train and when the doors closed it was funny seeing someone nearly getting caught in them.
I have been looking at importers for getting them in the UK but it tends to be very expensive so I will just hope one day that they will be released outside Japan. There is another game out there from Taiwan called “Go! Go! Taipei Metro” it can be made to work on XP, I don't think there is a demo though.

Fairly benign on horsepower There is also a downloadable file on the site that lets you install the game under English Windows. Assuming you can find out how to purchase the game itself ---PCJ

RE: OT Denshya De Go

Go Go is very hard - quite difficult to get beyond what appears to be the first level. The graphics aren't quite up to the standard of Densha de Go either, IMHO.Of course with A-Train 6 making its debut on PS2 next month (at least in the UK/Europe) there's hope yet that Somy might decide the DDGo games are worth releasing.

RE: OT Denshya De Go

Go Go is Payware. I got mine through an importer in Hong Kong (should that be exporter?!). Quite cheap, around £15 all up including shipping. I had to change Regional settings on XP to Chinese for installation, but once the game was installed altered it back to English no problem.

Hi Vern,Do you know if ATrain 6 is going to be released to other PAL regions, ie Australia for the PS2? As UK versions of PS2 games will not work here in Oz (unless you get your machine chipped).Bye for now,Stephen.

I asked the question and was told it is up to Sony who apparently have the final say on what PS games are released in what territory. Which I would read as a "no" at this stage. I also didn't get an answer as to whether a PC version is planned at some point which I personally would prefer over the PS2 version if only because I won't have to fight the missus over TV access rights!Presumably that means it is Sony who are blocking (or just plain not interested) in releasing the Densha de Go games outside Asia, rather than Taito/Unbalance.

able to go back to your original windows. Hi Andrew,I have both English Windows ME and Japanese Windows 98 SE which I managed to get on E Bay here in England. I use two removeable HDD caddies, swopping them over when I need to.Jap 98 will run any western software, but only some Jap software will run on Western Windows, (if the filenames contain any non roman characters, they won't run)You are better waiting till you upgrade your PC to run Windows XP,
which will run any asian software wherever you are.John

RE: OT Denshya De Go

Hi.Just to tell You that I downloaded the 63 Megs.I run XP proffessional and all I did extra was to install Japanese characters. I needed them anyway to watch the BVE Home-site.Install of the game went without a hitch, I was even able to choose destination-dir.It started first time, and even if I do not understand a 'beep' I managed to get the game going. Well, I think I ran through a 'few' red lights and after each stop I was told how I had performed. Usually -3 points in all diciplines..
(I figure I have no future as a RailCar Driver in Japan).A lot of advice is given both in writing and verbally by a nice female voice. (A pity I do not understand a word)Level of difficulty: I figure, a few more tries, and I will be able to do it without killing any pedestrians. Graphics: a lot like BVE, but with moving pedestrians and other vehicles. In all, a nice game, maybe too much guiding, but fun. However, I like trains (read BVE) much better, but that is not Taito's fault If You have the bandwidth, get it. The game installs OK without messing around with any special language Windows. Any English Windows XP with Japanese Chars. loaded will do it.Good luck.ChrisD

Hi womer_uk.Well, I haven't found the exit key I'm afraid, but You don't need a hdd reset.Just press ctl-alt-del to call up the Task Manager, then terminate the program..That works for me.ChrisD

RE: OT Denshya De Go

Hi all, I've installed DDG under XP Pro and I get out of the game just by pressing Alt+F4, maybe it doesn't work under other OS.
I hope it helps.
Bye.

RE: OT Denshya De Go

(re: exiting Densya)If it works anything like DDG!2, I think you press ESC, then pick the non-selected item on both prompts...it's something like:(Resume)
Quitafter selecting "Quit", it asks if you are sure (I think that's what it's saying)(No )
YesAfter selecting "yes", you are taken to the main menu, at which point tha bottom item is the final 'exit program' optionOne more thing: I know for a fact that Densya 1 and 2 run fine on US WinME without additional add-ons like Japanese character support (which means US W98SE is probably ok too). What other versions are known to be compatible with US Win9x? (MS support for 98SE/ME was extended till June 2006)Basically I intend to stick with the older OSes on my older machines until they cease to function.---PCJ
