Boso View Express aka BVE, is a cab-view train driver simulation from a Japanese fellow named Mackoy. His site is in Japanese and is at http://mackoy.cool.ne.jp/ Think a Freeware MSTS with better sound, less views (1) and no shunting. Christopher
I will most cetainly add to that, sir! Bve is, IMHO, the most realistic cab ride you can have without being in the actual train. I have heard it said that some LU guys use it at home to learn new routes, it is that realistic, given a good train and route/object collection. You will be amazed, the better the data it's given, the more real it gets, and I speak as someone with driving experience (Class 37 if you're interested)CiaoSaxon Locomotive Works - "The difficult we do immediately; the impossible takes a little longer"http://www.zodiac-infosystems.co.uk/rail/bve
It's neat, the installer is about 2.5 megs, no bloatware Also see my post "In cab views for new users" - a gallery for screenies of views out of various trains and routes, so you can see them and get the info you need to obtain them CiaoSaxon Locomotive Works - "The difficult we do immediately; the impossible takes a little longer"http://www.zodiac-infosystems.co.uk/rail/bve
If your a huge fan of american heavy freight, be warned, there is only one american heavy freight route for BVE. BVE is primarily subway and commuter routes. That squirrel may look cute, but he is our only protection against routes ripped off from other authors. He will destroy all of these routes authors. HAHAHAHAHAHA
The program itself is about 2.5 mb, the add-on routes and trains 'required' (uchibo8.exe) is about 8mb.Where you really get nailed is downloading add-ons, which average 2mb per route or train, but even with basically every add-on available my BVE folder is only about 1.5gb, roughly the size of my trainz folder. My MSTS folder on the other side is a WHOPPING 4.38gb, about 12% of my main drive and literally half of the space taken up by programs. Its a great sim... try it... and if you don't like it... you get your money back, all $0 of it! Robert,Most every type of UK train is represented at the BVE UK Train Collection, at:-http://www.bvetrains.co.ukfrom little 319's to Class 66 and beyond... most of the LU stock is at Steve Green's TrainsimCentral :-http://www.trainsimcentral.co.ukDon't worry about the retirement thing, all the work is there to download and he is still with us (but in the background)All these and more are also linked from SLW CiaoSaxon Locomotive Works - "The difficult we do immediately; the impossible takes a little longer"http://www.zodiac-infosystems.co.uk/rail/bve
>My MSTS folder on the other side is a WHOPPING 4.38gb, about >12% of my main drive and literally half of the space taken >up by programs. A bit off-topic I know, but my MSTS is taking up 26Gb! LOL I should really stop downloading stuff! Lucky thing I've got a 160Gb Hard Disk......
