Evening All Next train to roll off the production line from myself and other respected authors will be the class 304 first generation EMU, which ended its days in the manchester area after working a lot of their time on the west coast main line. At the end the types life one was selected for preservation by the AC Locomotive Group but repeated Vandal attacks whilst in storage in crewe meant the unit was beyond economic repair and like its other members met with the cutters torch in the late 1990s, now no 304s survive.Cab is 90% complete as shown... but what im really after is a driver who has experienced one of these units and also anyone who can supply a class photo.. if anyone knows of such a person who would be willing to help or is such a person can they PM me.Release.... could be within the next few weeks or could coincide with an upcoming route, havent decided as of yet.Unfortunatly the 60 and the 58 have halted in production, although both cabs are complete, i have no sounds so if anyone could oblige that would also be a great help, and with of course full credit.
Hi Gizmo, I can't realy comment on the cab as I have never seen one, never mind be on a 304! I have seen pictures and driven the superb MSTS version from UKTrainSim and they look/sound good.Below is an attached image of a Class 304.304031 arriving at Sandwell & Dudley station on 2 March, with the 13.00 Wolverhampton to Birmingham New Street. Class 304 units operated local services around Birmingham, Liverpool and Manchester from the early 60s until their withdrawal in 1996. Thanks to John ArmitsteadDamon Cox Shameless Self Promotion
In regards to the Class 60 sounds, I have some on my computer, I must have downloaded them from UKTRAINSIM. Here is a copy of the readme:class 60 sound set beta v1.0 copyright (c) 2003 ash turner e-mail leopard2tank888@yahoo.co.uk or ashturner188@hotmail.com These sounds were recorded from class 60008 "Gypsum Queen II" in loadhaul livery when i had a ride as a guest passenger in the cab of 60008 from peterborough depot to birmingham freight depot to collect some ews containers. Tip: if you wait for 30 seconds after starting an activity with a class 60 that uses my sounds you will hear the loco start-up its engine. Installation :firstly may i suggest you back-up the loco you are going to use my class 60 sounds with first. just incase anything goes wrong. 1. open up the eng file of the loco you are going to use. 2. scroll down until you find this line (e.g gp38eng.sms) 3. change this to eng-start-cl60eng.sms 4. again scroll down until you find this line (e.g gp38cab.sms) 5. change this to eng-start-cl60cab.smsThats it the sounds are ready to use just start up train simulator choose a class 60 consist.go drive and enjoy the new sounds. These sound files have been tested numerous times. but you use them at your own risk. I accept no responsabillity for anything that goes wrong if you need help with these sounds then don't hesitate to e-mail me or post a message on the ukts forum.Unfortunatly, I cant seem to find them on UKTRAINSIM, but you may wish to email the author? Hope all is well, Pete
PeteI did try those one a short while back but due to the way they have been split from the original recording it was nearly impossible to get anything useful..Thanks Anyway
My understanding is that the last 304 was involved in a side swipe shunting collission at Crewe South sidings, and had to be written off (they were in an awful state anyway.)I rode them fairly regularly in the 1980s and 1990s. Just remember the VERY noisy compressors and make it bounce! If you sat over the bogies, I was sometimes bounced up and down on the seats (I was only 10 at the time!)Good luck with it, and hopefully it should provide a basis for 305 and 308 units too.Paul
