I've been having an annoying problem with BVE. When I installed
Windows 200 Pro a few weeks back I noticed that instead of getting
the usual 29-30 FPS, I was only getting 21-22 FPS. I was using
my GeForce4 Ti4200. I then got hold of a ATi Radeon 9800 Pro, put it in my PC but
couldn't get in to install. I re-installed Win 2000 and it now works
fine. After the reinstall of Win 2000, I played BVE and noticed the
FPS were back up to 29-30. But now it's back down at 21-22, as
shown below. My old GF4 Ti4200 always displayed 29-30 when I
was using Windows 98SE, so Im thinking this is related to some
other software I have installed on my PC which is causing Win 2000
to display the game incorrectly. This happens on ALL routes. The
rest of my PC is an AMD 3200+, 1GB (2x512Mb) PC3200 RAM, Asus
A7N8X Deluxe Motherboard, Audigy2 Soundcard.Anyone any ideas?

Hi James,You may well have answered your own question.
Do a simple task.
At the bottom of your screen right hand side check which programs are running (task bar) Close down all programs you don't need to run BVE and try again. Or close them down one by one, running BVE each time to see which one is sapping your power. You can also do this by pressing Ctrl - Alt - Del and close down everything exept System and Explorer. If you have something like Norton Security on your system as I do this can sometimes cause problems. But remember to restart any security system before you next go on the web. Also it is better to reboot between running routes on BVE.A good program to have is evidence eliminator. I picked up 1362 unwanted bits of information in one week off the web and this program gets shot of the lot with one click of the mouse.Hope some of this helpsBryan

But at true 21fps, there is a very minor stuttering. And in WIndows Media Player, you don't even have to open anything, not even a track, so that you can save your RAM! Make sure it is on the "Now Playing" tab, that's all.

-----You are reading my signature now, don't waste your time reading it!-----
Or probably, maybe you should waste your time reading it.
Eh, where did my signature go?
Oh, here it is, the one you are reading right now? Can't you see it? I know I know, it's probably too bright to see it.
Hey, look at my avatar, nice right? I drew it with my own hands holding the mouse in Paint, with the pencil tool(and the Filling tool!)!
It's a picture of me in Planet Stooopid, where everything is the same as what you call "Earth" except that we are called "aliens" in your planet.
Anyway, I warned you not waste time reading my signature! You have just wasted probably about 30 seconds reading it, where you could have spent the time doing better things, like maybe reading the next post below if there is one...

I'd take issue with you saying BVE is actually doing 30fps
when it says its doing 21fps - to my eye there's a clear
stuttering, and it's particularly noticable when you *do*
play it with Win Media Player running, when it's much smoother.James H
