hi up until noww i have ha BVE no problem running every night without many faults on my computer. However, recently upgraded to XP professional and now I can't get BVE to run. t will open the window giving me the full screen/windowed option but when i select OK it pulls up the BVE logo and then quits without any hesitation or warning. Can anyone tell me whats wrong?BTW i have sorted out the backwards compatablity thing.
Hi !Could you tell us a little more about your BVE's config ? version...I run BVE on XP Pro since dec 2002, and everything run well.XP is like NT or 2000 (In reality, XP Pro is NT 5), it is able to cut off programs without hesitation or warning or 'blue screen' (in most case), because it is a real multithreating Operating System. The kernel is very strong, and only my sons are able to get blue screen with some games like C&C Generals... But, never with BVE.If BVE quit like that, I think it's because something is unpleasant for XP. (perhaps string.ini, or language...)So, one thing to do is uninstall BVE, then reinstall it, with good string.ini (don't forget, it's not the same between 2.04 and 2.53).BVE with XP Pro is able to run windowed or full screen. All the best.

If its 2.9 It can happen with XP.Try disabling Norton Internet security/Virus protection while running BVE.Have you only recently upgraded to 2.9 ? If so have you got MS Net Framework loaded ?.Let me know.Bryan
I've heard this before somewhere... There's no reason BVE can't run in such a powerful OS like XP Pro. Try to do the following: -In any area of your desktop, right click your mouse, then Properties, Settings and set your video mode down to 16 bits (High Color) and 800x600 pixels.Hope this helps,

I can only confirm what has already been said.If you have "upgraded" (installed XP "over" the previous version), try a fresh installation of BVE in a new folder and don't forget to disable the "visual themes" in the program's properties, before running BVE the first time.Luigi Cartello http://bve.altervista.org/ http://web.tiscali.it/lcartello/
