Ok, I'd better clear up some serious myths here.First and foremost, you do not need to contribute a damn thing to BVE in order to be a member of these forums and actively participate with your feedback, opinions, and suggestions. Whether you want to eventually make a route, train, or object, or not, you should feel excited to join and add your two cents, two euros, two pence, whatever, to any thread you think you have something to add to. If you want to develop something and don't know how, ask! There are plenty of members here, myself included, who know *most* of the ins and outs of BVE coding, and would be more than happy to assist anyone, in getting started! I would assist Damon just as quickly as I would come to the aid of a complete newbie. If you actively participate in the forums here or anywhere in a constructive manner you are a PRODUCTIVE member of this community.Secondly, and no less importantly, just because you HAVE developed something makes you NO MORE IMPORTANT. You should hold no higher status here whether you've made something or not, and regardless of its quality. If you are a developer and feel otherwise, I'm sorry but you're WRONG. This is a community of equals. The only exception to this is the occasional troll, but even they, if shown their problems, CAN be turned around into a productive member *see above* in time.Thirdly, it is no ONE PERSON's place to say whether someone is welcome here. EVERYONE is welcome here and they can stay for AS LONG AS THEY WANT, given they are not being counterproductive to intelligent discussion. Just because you're here and you've built a route but that person over there hasn't does NOT make you some kind of almighty BVE god. If you think it's your place to wander over and tell someone to go away, or that their website sucks and they should get rid of it, or that their train is horrible and should be un-released, then YOU need to go away. Come back when your ego has swollen to less than the size of the Hidenburg and you're more mature than the *average* first grader. I say *average* because there are several members of this forum here that are ages 11-14 and they contribute every day in their own ways, some with routes, others with websites, others still just with their constructive critiszm. There's a difference between telling someone that their website sucks and they should get rid of it, and telling someone that their website sucks and they could make it a lot better if they did ___________. Of course, there's nicer ways of telling them and it's generally best to stick to those, but regardless, one is constructive and the other is not.I certainly hope that this clears it up for some people. No one is better than anyone else here until one of our members proves with their own actions that they are not mature enough to be a member of these discussions. Lack of actions in terms of development is NOT the same as being conciously counterproductive. If you think this is directly related to the recent attempt at ousting Damon, you're right. However, I do not play favourites. This is for everyone's benefit and I will come to the aid of a complete stranger or former troll (as I did with Anas, search the forum and I'm sure you'll come up with something) as soon as I would a friend as dear to me as Damon. To wrap things up, if you think you're better than anyone else here or can say who comes or who goes just at the drop of a hat, better do a serious ego check, you're not. If you think you can't be a member because you don't know how to or don't want to develop a route or train, you're wrong too, because you're welcome here no matter what you can do.Maybe this will bring some lurkers to the surface. If you think BVE discussion is dead here, just be patient. Come the opening of Union Atlantic, IBOD, and the BVE Guide for Stooopids (guides that make developing for BVE easy as pie), there will be a new life for BVE development, discussion, and we hope, a renewed sense of community for everyone. If you disagree with anything I've said, feel free to reply or e-mail me at tim <at> union-atlantic <dot> com and tell me just what you think. If you agree, please reply to the thread so those who lurk and newbies can have some very serious and counterproductive myths cleared up right away, and know that it's not just me who feels this way.Tim Frost
