Is it just me or

HiIs it just me or does it seam that more and more people are leaving BVE and going to MSTS??? BVE is also going quiet! there's not much being realsed now! is everyone giving up?Just wont to know why people like MSTS more than BVE?

In reply to the above, a number of things have to be considered.
a) This forum was revised only through the interest of the majority.b) On the whole we only have a small (as yet) number of developers.c) The developers we do have go to work raise families and have a private life.d)Our benefactor Mr Mackoy has only just released the Beta version of his new BVE system. If I were a developer I would now be biding my time in order to see what the release version holds for BVE users.You can't build the engine till you have the car to put it in !Also we are approaching that time of year when most of us are thinking of Turkey, Christmas pud, Booze (medicinal purposes only) and how to avoid the mother-in-law over a long holiday period.
New years resolution patience. If you wait long enough for your train three will probably turn up in the new year all at the same time.Happy Xmas.

I'm a newbie here but I think that more people know of MSTS because it's on sale in all the PC games shops in nice shiny boxes. BVE is for the enthusiast and (hopefully) you'll never see it on sale. Once people get into MSTS they then find out about the add ons and there are hundreds of developers for MSTS. I've gotta go along with Bryan88 - theres not too many developers. As for new releases...I think that theres far more exciting new things going on in BVE. If all goes well there might be one more route released soon.Tony Haylor

Zane, Have you seen my post. Im currently coding at the moment. You get times when you have loadz of add ons for bve all released at the same time, then it just knocks back for a while. Patience and it will all come!!Best wishes

Suppose this is a good time and thread to say I'm effectively through with BVE development. Too busy with work, would rahter commit to my career and life outside of work. It's been fun while is lasted!

Maybe there's a reason, maybe it's pure coincidence. I can guess though that there's usually a 'burst' in December, one in June, one in late September / early October.--

I think there is a lot of work going on behind the scenes at the moment, I've seen half a dozen really good routes currently being built. Obviously, building a route for BVE is a long drawn out task if you want to make a good job of it. People do have lives, jobs, families, and problems outside of this hobby that will slow things down! If anyone would like to pay my salary, and provide a nanny for my kids I'd quite happily write BVE routes full time. Open to offers Welcome Tony! Nice to see you here

Wulf and Steve, thanks for the welcome. There's never a day that passes that I don't visit this forum, although until now I've never joined it.I'm luckier than most, as I'm a retired ol' g*t and so I can put some time into projects as and when I feel like it. But life does have to come first and I know now just how much effort that all of you developers have put into BVE. I take my hat off to you all.With the release of the excellent Classes 67 and 33 (great job guys) and new route releases from all over europe I can't see any lul in the BVE world.

Hi !I am just reading these post.There are two possibles answers:- Create a route by yourself, we are able to note it, and flame you. (commun way in BVE 'community' ( ? ).- or:
It is difficult to create objects and routes, and that always a long and hard work.So, many autors prefer to put copyright on everything. And, of course, you must asking for permission, or starting from scratch, if you don't want to be flamed in forum or by mail. That's a second long and hard work too, above all for people who are not english speaking.And, when you succeed, there are always some who is able to write about your work, note it, put some stars on it, or create competition as if BVE was Olympic Game or routes some commercial games...So, the only way is to take easy, enjoy with your family, your work, your hobbies, and take fun with the gifts from others (routes), and your owns.You can see: the two answers are the same:
'Community' hate community. Only few are able to read, listen, understand, create trains or routes, because everything must now work in instant with a simple button pressing, or mouse clicking...So, enjoy with routes given by autors, respect them and their work (it's always a very hard work), and create one, it will be always a pleasure to drive it, even if there are no curved rails, realistic switches, or photographic scenary, because that's your idea, your fealing, and your work. And 'all you need is l...'

this is how i feel.
i have done stuff for bve but not really announced anything. mainly because some people wont email back- ever! i come back each day and see the same old topic's, but i think really, bve is far from dead.
IMHO i think that the bve community has been dented by something, but the fact is, people will still realease routes and trains, they'll do it because they want to use it and olay it for themselves, and yet, people will download it and use it, it just wont be so "exciting" as it was a few months or so ago.joe

I suspect not for you or me** or some of our members (wife, kids, house,car, mortgauge.....) but maybe some of our less encmubered members might be able to do this.
We might then be able to get a 3 year project like the Pic v3 route done in an a year
** My personal Proposal: chuck it all, Let the kids support themselves, teach the wife to hunt and fish, move to the mountains with a solar powered laptop and satelite connection and become a programing hermit/geru

In my case, I work alone here. I'm currently coding my
'Guaianazes to Mogi' route when it's possible, mainly due to
several commitments at work, inevitable in the real life.
Just like me, I can assure other BVE developers are doing the same,
just to provide excellent BVE routes for us in a next future.
According to my daily mood, it easy to make a new object in a day,
another day is rather easy to do some coding, another day I'm
going through a lack of inspiration or motivation.
As someone said before, we don't quit BVE, we are working that hard to do BVE routes with quality and providing better and better trains
as well. (Take a look at the screenshot below).
