RE: Not MSTS and Not Trainz

Acutally now I think it looks when both MSTS's and Trainz' rendering's good areas are combined and made into one game.Georgi

RE: Not MSTS and Not Trainz

Before there was MSTS and before there was Trainz, I was using Pov-Ray to build and 'photograph' models. Pov-Ray doesn't use tesselation ( triangulation of surfaces ) which allows it to maintain extremely smoooth curves with very high accuracy rendering. The JPG compression has removed a lot of detail from the scene above - the original is even better. The downside of course, it that without tesselation, it can't utilize 3D video card acceleration. Frame rates run about 0.02 FPS ie 10-20 seconds per frame. I have been experimenting with using route editor to pose the models - exporting the world file to Pov-Ray and then rerendering the scene in Pov-Ray. There are a lot of challenges to making this work but its an interesting extension to the hobby.Wayne

RE: Not MSTS and Not Trainz

Interesting? - I'll say! Wayne, you sure come up with some interesting twists to this thing! Your home-made program for laying out overhead, your whole approach to route-building, and now you show us this. It reminds me of those old George Pal puppetoons of the late forties and early fifties, for some reason. Some kind of surrealistic slant....I like it.Cheers, and keep up your great works! Thanks, TWM
