Deep in the Wilderness of Canada..... A 3-Unit set of big Alcos has a short extra train in tow. The Speed limit is 20 MPH, but the scenery is great. Finally, the crew stops the train at a Grade Crossing and walks a short distance to a local diner. More photos to come after our crew returns from dinner.Jake Mensel Sandpatch Dispatch http://www.sandpatchdispatch.tk _________________________
I beg to differ with your claim (ALCO's in their natural habitat), natural habitat for ALCO's would be the country grain lines of NSW, only engine with a light enough axle load to travel the poorly maintained branches. Nice shots too. Projects - 421 class Public Transport Commission of New South Wales diesel electircs: Fuel & Air tanks - 100% No. 2 end - 88% (Pilot details and number boards/headlights need to be added) No. 1 end - 05% (Work on the pilot has been started) Sides - 33% (frame work is up, about 1/2 of panels on) Overall - 16.2% - 422 class New South Wales Government Railways diesel electircs: On the drawing boards for a project after the 421's. Overall - Not official
Umm, I'd say you are wrong about that one. Alco's were made in the USA and therefore first run in the USA and there are still plently of all-Alco shortline still running in the country, and I am lucky enough to live along this one: http://www.wnyprr.com And by the time they are done refurbishing their line, their track will be anything but poorly maintained.
