Rich? Build 11? Is it out? Gotta have. No? I will not trainsim without Ohio Rails. Nope. Can not. I'm spoiled.

RE: Gp9's on Ohio Rail (Build 11)

Nah, wish it was though.. I'd have a life again. Far from it actually. Creating all the new buildings has slowed the route building to a crawl. I can't even begin to estimate how long it will be either. Yep, adding the buildings has turned this into much more of an ambitious project than I meant it to be.Rich Garber

RE: Gp9's on Ohio Rail (Build 11)

RichBuild 10 will keep me busy for a while too, and thanks for a great contribution to the Sim. I have to "pull your leg" and hope that Build 11 has a food wholesale place and a meat packer. From what I've scoped out so far, those lumberjacks, coal miners and steelworkers are eating Frozen food - Garber's Root Beer - Sarah's Pastries and Starluck coffee. I have boxcars full of Maine potatoes and cattle for the local menu !! <grin>

RE: Gp9's on Ohio Rail (Build 11)

Hey I'm glad you brought this up. I've been trying to find a decent picture of whatever they do with the cows that go in cattle cars. Our Steam Pack has a cattle car but there's no pickup or delivery on the route for them to go to. If you have a picture or website that shows some of these places, I'd sure appreciate it. Barnesville has a cattle auction bldg., but from the pics I got, I can't make out the shape of the building. Any help be appreciated. Rich Garber

Nice looking route!!!I have a Walthers HO reference book from 2001. There is a meat packing plant in there, as far as I can remember. So I will scan the picture of the model for you tomorrow as I have a bunch of scanning to do for a friend. This is kwk100 and I'm 10-10 on the side.KWK100's GE Locomotive RebuildingUpdates (Jan 9 2003)GE 44 Tonner V2.00 and the 5 Ton Brownhoist nearing completion. Texture fixing in the works.

RE: Gp9's on Ohio Rail (Build 11)

No relation to GE. Hmmm. Gee? I only live 23 miles south of Erie, Pa. Home of the GE loco plant. I've been in there many times. I used to drive block truck and made many deliveries in there for building purposes. I snuck in the plant in places where they assemble them. Quite a site to see. I got to see allot of brand new locos with all there R.R. names britely painted on with only a few tested miles on them. I wish I would have taken pictures at the time. Joe.......

RE: Gp9's on Ohio Rail (Build 11) and the cows

Rich,Since I got your original thread on the GP9's so far off the topic, it might have been better to start a new one called "Find Mr. Garber a meat packing plant" ... But meantime I've had some success finding some stuff. 1. My own recollections from commuting through the PRR or NJC yards just south of Newark NJ in the early 70's. There was a one or two story industrial looking building (maybe abandoned at the time} ... set back from the siding far enough to have a small pen and wooden fenced "back and forth" chutes to lead the cows to a ground level door. The gory interior details were obviously hidden from view. The opposite side must have had (I never saw it) a standard "loading dock" to send boxed product to retail butchers, restaurants etc. 2. A link to HO layout pics of the West Central Model Club of Sparta WI.http://www.spartan.org/WestCentralModelRailroading/wclayout.htmThey modelled it pretty much as above, but added a steam era detail that I would have forgotten .. a small Ice Plant. Obviously they also ship finished meat out in iced reefers.3. Another link to Vince Backeberg's site. He did/does 3D models for Sierra\Dynamix's "TrainTown". There are several other pics of a power plant, rock quarry processing etc. I added his copyright notice ... so to all the guys who develop "commercial" MSTS add-ons ... "No peeking" <grin> http://home.teleport.com/~v3d/3dtrains.htmAll images/animation's for Private non-commercial viewing purposes only.

RE: Gp9's on Ohio Rail (Build 11) and the cows

Rich,OK, for the time being on Build 10, I'm happy to take them for "just a ride" to a transfer track and head them out to Cincinnati, Wheeling or Pittsburgh. Somebody there can turn "Bossie" into "T-Bone" and ship her back. Good business for the RR's. I've never started a new thread, but I have some late afternoon shots of the OR&W Alco with some cattle cars and Sky Conductor ... stay tuned.Bob K.

RE: Gp9's on Ohio Rail (Build 11)

That's Cambridge, the north side. Cambridge takes up a good bit of area. What you're seeing here is the WV&O trackage which is bending westward to Zanesville. Just a little ways south of this point is where the WV&O and OR&W interchange at the Byesville Yard and the WV&O continues eastward to Wheeling.Rich Garber

some more shots

I needed to have a look-see how the scenery was coming along so I grabbed the Gp9's again and my 20+ car train and headed east towards Wheeling. Here's some pictures I took along the way.

RE: some more shots

Heya Marc,The Gp9's photograph real well Marc. They are very nice. I haven't run these parts of the route with another engine to see how well the fps is but so far the three gp9's haven't caused me a frame rate problem. Someone was concerned about that who emailed me. Anyway, yep, it's a blue trailer but I don't know if it's a construction one or not. It's a default object. You like? I can get you a real good deal on one. I'm tooOOOO lazy to run that batch file Marc! Rich Garber

RE: some more shots

Hi Joe,This is a "preview" of what is an upcoming update for the OR&W that I've been working on for the last month or so. I have updated a few of the original repaints from Leith Platten, and added a few "new" engines. 13 in all. Rich has been kept abreast of all the new repaints, with his encouragements. Maybe I should start a new thread?Marv

RE: some more shots

Marv,Well I'm sure that if you don't start a thread, someone else will !! Good news like this can't stay buried 25 messages down in this one for long. I'd settle for just the one. What's the mix between OR&W and WV&O, or is it premature to ask ?? FANTASTIC JOBBob K.

RE: some more shots

Man this route just gets better and better! I'm working on those repainted Berks I showed in that other thread for OR. I've contacted NALW and will wait and see.
Yes. You should start a new thread with those GP9's. Post it in the engine design or something. I don't think very many people visite the screenshot forum that much. As said above being burried down here. LOL!Joe
