I wouldn't have a problem with it if they kept the cigar band on the front and put the new logo on the sides in yellow, rather than black.

WCL, did i understand your post right-you actually like seeing CN sh*t replace the WC's beautiful, loud, sharp lookin SD45s? If so, please change your forum name cus CN is the biggest disgrace to American railroading ever...they should have stayed in Canada instead of destroying every American railroad theyve taken over (WC, IC, DMIR, BLE....) !!!!!!!!

IC did take over CN... Look who's the president. Everyones favourite, Hunter! CN is nothing more than Chicago Northern now. As for ruining other companies... Better than UP buying them eventually CN has always been running in the US, wheter under Grand Trunk Western, CV etc. So its nothing new...Rob

RE: H3 shows up..

wow , me and BNSF4999 are becoming good friends. How has CN destroyed all the railroads it has taken over? Hmm , yep i have time to right this.Ok first off CN is buying some new locos soon and ALL are stenciled IC, not one WC mind you. I know a train master who had a WC sweatshirt on, and the CN guy told him to get rid of it. What type of B.S. is that? And whats going to happen with the WC cars and engines.Well some EX soo boxcars are getting sold, and obviously some WC engines. Now why would you scrap some engines as well as the WC's.Ok for all you people that saw WC road trains in the late 1990's , how many dirty WC engines did you see, hmm maybe 1 at the most. And now DM&IR who was a pretty cool railroad too , now the cool SD45T-2s are getting thinned, and the SD38's . Where do i stop, CN SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!For all of you that are with me say I!Alec My AOL IM is WC7505Long live the SOO Line and Wisconsin Central

RE: H3 shows up..

Ok... It's a fact of life railroads get rid of the old junk and replace them with A) More powerful locomotives B) Fuel efficient C) more modern, generally less maintenance. The soo boxcars are getting sold because they're old and are being replaced with newer boxcars. A pair of SD75I's can replace 3 SD40-2's, so it makes sense to get rid of them. There are still alot around and be thankful CN doesn't pull a UP and slap's a patch on them! All in all, the railroad is run to turn a profit, not to please us foamers.Rob

RE: H3 shows up..

Yea i see what you mean , but the WC engines were in great shape, then CN comes and , i dont think they ever wash WC stuff, never give them the work the need, and they didnt need much work at all until CN neglected them. But what bothers me is that the CN is pretty much the IC. I cant tell you how many engines i see when someone writes on the hood door with there finger. About a week ago i saw a CN dash 9 , and i quote" Hunter Harrison sucks **** and *****" And oh , golly in the cabs of the units thats all you see . RE: H3 shows up..

Alec, you still haven't told me how they've "destroyed" the American roads. Listen, the SD45's are nice to look at and pretty to take pictures of, but why do you think WC has all those V20 fuel guzzlers in the first place? Because the big roads didn't want them. With the price of fuel and the maintenence problems inherited with the SD45, it makes more sense to spend the money on newer power. Believe me, if the WC had the money to trade in all their SD45's for SD70's or Dash 9's, the Helm fleet would be a bit bigger today. got a little off topic here so...
The new GEVO paint looks ok I guess...

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I disagree. Its ok 4 them 2 take over some R/R's, thats what happens these days. But just not the DM&IR. I can't 4give them 4 that. Also, CN retains the WC SD45s, even in WC paint. Anyway they've always been more than a Canadian road. They had Grand Trunk Western in the US as well as Central Vermont. As you can see im having a number-y day.-Andy the LRC lover

Well you guys complain about the logo and the paint. How many of you are bringing in that type of revenue? Do you actually think these big railroads care about our thoughts on their logos or color of the paint? When you bring in that kind of money you can afford to do whatever you want with your toys. I agree with a previous poster on this... The new logo looks pretty good on the sides of the locomotive, but they should have kept the cigar-band and cross on the nose. The new logo just doesn't do the nose any justice. But, hey, they didn't ask me before messing with their logo, so that's what they get...John G

RE: H3 shows up..

Anyone who's an Oakland Raiders fan here knows that real men wear black. I actually think that NS & CN have the best schemes around, all business looking. Nobody seems to balk & Penn Central & B&O ols look, strange?Anyway to the so called H3, to me the engine looks naked & very plain, except for the dukes of hazard orange paint which is now to visible without all the decals & personally I hate the swoosh, are they trying to look like they are fast, if so their swoosh is going back wards on the brakeman's side. Although the black looks a bit better than the dark green. Just my opinion, later, Rich.

RE: H3 shows up..

NS's livery is my second-favorite. UP's wing scheme is my favorite paint scheme. It has yellow, red, blue, and gray all in one convenient package! As far as North America's worse livery, I'd have to give that distinction to the Chessie System (BN's off-white and black-green executive scheme comes in at a close second in that catagory). I mean, who wants to drive around in a red and yellow locomotive with a picture of a kitty-cat on it?

Those F units looked good too.I dunno. I think that a lot of white doesn't go good on locomotives because it looks dirty quicker than any other color. Plus, I think that the green that they used on it was too dark (almost looks black, especially when it gets weathered). I would have preferred this scheme more if they replaced the white with silver and the dark green with their traditional Cascade Green.
