Nice shots. As I an upstate New Yorker who lives near the NS Southern Tier line, nee CR and EL, I can vouch that the screenshots capture the essence of the area while attesting to its beauty. By the way, where did you get that outstanding looking EL repaint? Thank you. Sincerely,
Walter Conklin

Thank you! I've spent many a weekend prowling the southern tier line back in the 80s and 90s, and I grew up with the NYC, LV, C&O and Erie and their sucessors. Those EL repaints are outstanding!Tim Baldwin

Ted,You've made my day! Those big SD's look great, just as God and the Miss Phoebe intended! <g> I knew you had started work on converting your MRL unit, but I didn't expect to see the finished product so soon. And the route looks great, too. As Walter stated: it really captures the feel of the EL. Is that an existing route from the FL? Or something else?Henry

RE: EL westbound out of Hornell, NY.

I think out of all the units available......an EL SD45-2 or any EL road unit was probably needed the most. Another fantastic job by Ted.
ThanksCG

As some of you have guessed, this is my next project, a EL SD45-2 #3680. But it's still far from a "Finished Product". I needed to place the train in a place that looked as close to southern New York as I could get with the routes that I already had, and that would be around the Bonners Ferry area of the Whitefish 5 route. I still got a couple days work to do before I can release the unit, mostly involving the cabview.Ted Curphey

RE: EL westbound out of Hornell, NY.

WOW! Great shots, and a great engine! Can't get enough EL stuff, and an EL route is on my wishlist. Used to live in Hornell and in the Binghamton area. Spent a lot of time watching the EL and the D&H. I was always in to trains, and had my ear "tuned" into the sounds of the diesels. In Johnson City, I would hear the trains leaving Binghamton, and I tell my friends that a train was coming. They couldn't hear it and thought I was nuts, but sure enough, several minutes later, an EL Westbound would rumble by.I remember lots of trailer trains, and mixed engine lashups consisting of U Boats with what I believe were old E Units, many times in the lead. And of course, watching them shove boxcars arount the old Gunlocke plant in Wayland, NYAhhhhh.....
