One of the keys is using Full-Scene Anti-Aliasing and Anisotropic filtering. It gets rid of jagged parts on objects and makes the view look crisper. You do this by adding /fsaa and /anisotropic to the shortrcut to MSTS. There's also a better way to take screenshots than pressing Print Screen but I can't remember. Also make sure you're in at least 1024x768x32 and you're using at least an nVidia geforce2 video card for the best video image you can get. It may stress your frames-per-second but it's worth it if good screens is what you're after. RE: How do you guys get your screenshots so good

Hi there.I've got a few suggestions, and hope you consider them helpful. Judd's tutorial is definately worth reading. Another excellent source is John Roth. jfroth1 is his screen name, and he's posted some good ideas - he's another great photographer in Trainsim. Look for his stuff or email him, perhaps.Taking a look at the screenshot you posted, here are some observations:1. The headlights tend to look distorted when you're close and in front of the locomotive. You might try moving to the side an a little farther away.2. We don't usually see trains from this angle. It might look more real if you take the picture from human height by moving the camera closer to the ground. If you want height, imagine you'd be standing on a rock in the desert or something similar - that rock wouldn't be so close to the train - so again I would gain a little distance.3. If you've got the computer for it, get Sky conductor! It's a great fix for any sky.4. Try adjusting the sun - run the train early in the day or later on, to get different lighting effects. This picture is really bright - maybe ok for the desert, don't know - I try to stay away from death valley!I hope these thoughts give you something to play with, in addition to the good suggestions you've already gotten.Good luck!Mark

Here's one I recently took on the NEC on a winters day. The second one is currently by Windows wallpaper at BWI also on the NEC.

You're standing too close to the edge on the first one!Actually it's more of the matter that the platform is to far away from the tracks. This maybe corrected (I'm speculating here) with Vince's NEC 4 route. Judging by the quality of his work from the screenshots posted so far!

When taking screenshots I enable certain graphics settings on the video card (Geforce 3) to get the best quality.1. Before running MSTS I enable 4X anti-aliasing AND 4X anisotropic filtering in my videocard settings (this forces these settings on for all games).
2. I then run MSTS and set the res to 1600x1200 (I use this as my standard res anyway).
3. I turn off all driver aids and move the mouse cursor off the screen.
4. I use the "Prt-Scn" button to create the screenshot(s).
5. I then exit MSTS and resize the created PCX file to 800x600 (using Paintshop Pro) then save as a JPG for posting.Et voilà!How do you guys get your screenshots so good – image 9
