I'm working west from Denver on this narrow gauge route, aka the South Park Line. Track is complete to the mouth of Platte Canyon (about mile post 20), as well as the Morrison Branch and my rendition of the Silica Branch. Below are some screenshots of the Denver yards, followed by Morrison with scenery in progress, followed by Silica Branch without much scenery yet. Oops, I forgot to add route map of Denver yards at the beginning. It is shown last.If someone knows how to add captions or other words between pictures, please let me know.

Looking nice. I guess their is no need for me to have Denver in my version of the route! Once I have uploaded the RGS route I will complete the high line into Leadville from Breckenridge and then we will have the complete DSP&P route. What era are you doing the route in?Also I have a load of Colorado and Southern Narrow Gauge rolling stock that needs uploading including C&S 68. http://groups.msn.com/MSTSNarrowGauge (Now being updated more oftern)

Thanks John and Jonathan.Jonathan, don't let Denver scare you off. I have 79 miles of track in the first 20 miles. Much of that is the yards adjacent to Union Station, imported from Rollins and modified a lot for dual gauge.I was thinking of modeling 1905, hence the C&S description, but I sure do like those 1920s vehicles that have been uploaded. Also that old Standard gasoline station that I have put in without pumps yet, which is still there today without pumps, shown doubled, side by side, in the photos above and below. That building was also used in a movie a few years back, pretending to be in Bailey instead of Morrison. The movie was a recreation of one of my neighbors (except I wasn't up here yet) who went to Denver and robbed banks. After robbing the Rio Grande Credit Union near Utah Junction, a chase ensued and he ran down a Denver detective. Our Channel 4 News Helicopter followed the chase, and finally decided that the only way this guy would be found and stopped, after a pickup truck hijacking, was to fly the copter down in front of the truck to block it, with the hijacked old guy driving. It worked, the guy refused to ram the copter, and police closed in and rammed the truck and pulled the good guy out of the truck and shot the robber full of holes. That story also made the program Rescue 911. I got off topic here. Sorry.I've really neglected installation of NG equipment, although most of them are filed in the computer. I look forward to some good C&S NG locomotives and rolling stock. Hope to find a nice passenger set someday, assuming I don't have it yet. As you can see, I'm still using a SG speedster to get around quickly and easily. Speed, quick acceleration, and quick stops are great. With regard to Silica Branch above, I explored that area a while back. Unfortunately the area is now highly developed, with almost all signs of right of way gone, but the old lime kiln still sits in the back yard of a new fire station. Wish there was a kiln in the library. Although that branch is on the plains just east of the foothills, I decided to move it west into the first mountain valley, so it would be nicer to drive.I think I may have completed Morrison now, except for the gasoline station and interactives. The first photo below is to the west from the branch going north to Satanic Mine and Garfield Quarry. Second is the final of the diagonal street. Third is looking east from east of the station. I used old photos of the town, from library books. The fourth is a distant view of the 2 Soda Lakes, south of the line into town. I recently walked the area from the road junction out to Soda Lakes, but found no good indication of where the tracks had been. This is still rattlesnake country, but I saw none. Obviously I have some terrain work to do in that last picture. Although I had to walk under a new freeway and its on/off ramps to get to the lakes, Morrison hasn't changed a whole lot in 100 years, except the tracks are gone, and the town's newer and only gasoline station sits where the train station once stood.

Here is a link to some screenshots of some C&S rolling stock I have made.

I always run Narrow Gauge rolling stock on any of the Narrow Gauge routes as I think it makes it a lot funner.I was making my version of the route in the 1880's. Where have you got track plans from or are use just doing it the best you can from photos (like me unless I happen to find a track plan)?Good luck with continuing with the route. I hope to start on Breckenridge - Leadville and Garo - Fairplay and beyond soon (now after 2 years I have just about finished the RGS route!)http://groups.msn.com/MSTSNarrowGauge (Now being updated more oftern)

LOL. Must be about bedtime there.I too would limit myself to NG trains for serious running on NG track. The SG Speedster is just for construction and review purposes.>I was making my version of the route in the 1880's. Where
>have you got track plans from or are use just doing it the

>track plan)? The bottom line is that I'm just doing the best I can. I do not have track charts, but have a lot of resources. Too bad my trips to the old route in metro Denver have been so unproductive. Today I walked up and around Mt. Carbon trying to find some sign of the old grade and/or the coal mine that once provided all the coal for the railroad. Saw lots of golf carts and the huge Bear Lake Dam that covers some of the grade, but no sign of a grade or mine. The mine should be under the dam. This is about half way between Morrison and Bear Creek/Sheridan Junction. A mile or two east of there was a trestle bridge across a low spot, where a train stopped because a horse wandered onto the trestle and legs fell through. Crew and Little Britches got the horse up, but it then fell to the ground (Little Britches, by Ralph Moody).I did find South Park Junction this past summer, under an Interstate Highway bridge. I stood and pondered. Still a junction, but SG branch line. I followed the branch line down almost to Bear Creek Junction. As you would know, USGS maps (hard copies and at Maptech online) still show much of the railroad grade in rural areas. Some of it is now covered by roads, but I can also see parts of it driving along. The South Park Line, A Concise History (Colorado Rail Annual No. 12) has lots of pictures.Denver's Railroads, by Forrest and Albi, has lots of old pictures, including the Union Station area at different times. It also has old maps detailing yard tracks in Denver. The classic Denver South Park & Pacific, Memorial Edition, by M C Poor, has a wealth of information, including the narrative, pictures, detailed timetables, and a detail listing of all stations and facilites.Tracking Ghost Railroads in Colorado, by Robert Ormes, has history and hand drawn maps.Pictures and narrative of Morrison are in Memory Album, Morrison Colorado by Horton, and The View From Mt. Morrison by Sam Arnold. My latest acquisition from the Colo. RR Museum is a treasure--The Colorado & Southern Railway Company List of Officers, Agents, Stations, Etc. Compiled in General Auditor's Office, July 1, 1913. It includes the entire system, Wyoming to Texas state line, with listings by district of stations, spurs, crossings, stock pens, scales, coaling stations, roundhouse capacities, engine houses, surgeons, etc. About 80 pages of detail, and not expensive. It made me want to build the ENTIRE system. Unfortunately, in 1913, the Gunnison District stopped at Hancock.

>Breckenridge - Leadville and Garo - Fairplay and beyond soon

Poor's books (I can't remember which one!)I have not found tracking ghost railways in Colorado that useful for route building. But this summer then I went to Colorado exploring a few NG lines it was useful but I'm sure I did notice a few errors on the maps!http://groups.msn.com/MSTSNarrowGauge (Now being updated more oftern)

RE: C&S Platte Canon/Gunnison Route in progress

Jonathan,Okay, I checked my dictionary and don't have "funner". Like I said, it's your language. We just hijacked it.Yes, the "Tracking" book has errors. I've found a lot of contradictory information overall.I looked closer and found some track charts in the Poor's book mentioned. Not detailed like what is available for Moffat Road.

RE: C&S Platte Canon/Gunnison Route in progress

Carol,What you see there is called DualTracks. It comes with three rails. It is in the file library by itself, but is also included as a part of Xtracks. There are some complications and limitations to its use. Here's a shot of standard gauge and narrow gauge heading off in separate directions at South Park Junction. No scenery yet.

Cool thanks for the info that will come in use on the Tennessee Pass when I build it as it was in the 1800s.
