RE: Diesels West Rock Island Set

Yes that's correct, it is the Canton-Suddenly Route by Rich Garber and friends. If you don't have it, the route is really worth it. Also Those other shots of the Diesel's West RI Set is fantastic. Later,Kep

RE: Diesels West Rock Island Set

I don't mind paying the price for quality work, and I think that this is Diesels West's best offering to date. Compared to model railroading, the prices of most MSTS payware to me seems more than reasonable...I guess it depends on a person's point of reference. If you compare the cost of these models vs the latest computer game, your point would be valid, but the payware vendors who are surviving seem to be targeting those of us with backgrounds in model railroading and railfanning moreso than computer gamers. Those of us who remember these fallen flags fondly are grateful to have the chance to see them once again in this virtual world...Thanks Scott and all at Diesels West for a great job...Tim Baldwin

RE: Diesels West Rock Island Set

Gary,
I can understand completely where you are coming from. But as BLW_1946 said they are of some of the finest in payware quality. I grew up with the RI so they are special to me. On the other hand eastern roads don't thrill me, mainly because I was never around them. So I probably would not pay for something of that nature. Its all personal opinion and what trips ones trigger. Less than $3.00 apiece for quality work in this sim is well worth it in my opinion.Take care,Kep

RE: Diesels West Rock Island Set

Kep, Tim, Gary, et al:In my opinion, I think each of you have hit the respective nails on their heads: What a product is "worth" to the consumer is strictly up to the individual purchaser. For Kep and Tim, 18 engines at $30 (or 1.61 each) was within their purchase threshold. They felt the gain justified the expenditure.Gary indicated "not so" for the Rock Island pack. Kep indicated "not so" should those have been eastern roads. That is consumerism at its best: The customer decides the value point.Gary keeps his money and is happy. Kep and Tim part with theirs, and are happy. From a developers standpoint: If sales at a set price are sufficient, then the developer will remain in business. If not, then the developer will have to decide what to do.One thing has definitely been established in the MSTS marketplace: Low prices to attract volume sales doesn't work.

Nice U28B's!!!With the sounds, do they have the destintive "whine" that U25's and U28's had thanks to thier alternator? Later U-Boat models and Dash-7 locomotives did not have a whine, just a chug.>Mike Forster<
