Coming up the South Pass into Seventy-Seven there's a main divide, straight ahead to the North Pass or right to Tinkers Dam. One problem area I noticed was that divide, with the switch being just past the tunnel it makes it difficult to anticipate the switch if you want to go up to Tinkers Dam. So I sent my road foreman, Joe "Dynamite" Dugan, up there to extend the cut and shorten the tunnel. BNSF Lady checks out BNSF Lady on PO&N 9 – image 1Dugan being Dugan, "Never use one stick of dynamite when a hundred will make a lovely bang", he eliminated the entire tunnel and completely obliterated Seventy Seven in the process. Fires are still smoldering in the area, so the North Pass and South Pass were rerouted, both now go all the way up and meet at Tinkers Dam. In the process of rerouting, the South Pass crossed over into Wyoming and thru the newly discovered town of BNSF Lady.BNSF Lady checks out BNSF Lady on PO&N 9 – image 2Our trip starts at Tinkers Dam, running down from the very top of the South Pass thru BNSF Lady.BNSF Lady checks out BNSF Lady on PO&N 9 – image 3Heading down out of Tinkers into the Rockies, meeting an AI train coming up the pass.BNSF Lady checks out BNSF Lady on PO&N 9 – image 4Coming into Wyoming there are some private ranches,BNSF Lady checks out BNSF Lady on PO&N 9 – image 5And on the other side the rugged frontier mountain town of BNSF Lady.BNSF Lady checks out BNSF Lady on PO&N 9 – image 6Over on this side are dude ranches for city slickers like me and Billy Crystal, so we can pay thousands of bucks to fall off fence rails while attempting to get on a horse.BNSF Lady checks out BNSF Lady on PO&N 9 – image 7Need a "Curly" Jack Palance cowboy figure here.BNSF Lady checks out BNSF Lady on PO&N 9 – image 8Leaving BNSF Lady heading east.BNSF Lady checks out BNSF Lady on PO&N 9 – image 9Slight curve to the northeast,BNSF Lady checks out BNSF Lady on PO&N 9 – image 10Off the high plains and back in the mountains.BNSF Lady checks out BNSF Lady on PO&N 9 – image 11And into familiar territory at the top of PonyShoe Curve.

RE: BNSF Lady checks out BNSF Lady on PO&N 9

It is pretty, ain't it? When my oldest grandaughter was born my oldest son was stationed at Colorado Springs, and I flew out there to visit. I've never been to Wyoming, so I'm basing this on memories of Colorado combined with a very few pics I hunted up of Wyoming. Hard to do, some lawyer type talking about a "ROCKY" case he had where the plaintiff was making "MOUNTAINS" out of molehills, and now he was ready for a change of "SCENERY", so it's off to the Caymans for a vacation, I'll send you some "PICTURES". Google search for keywords "ROCKY MOUNTAINS SCENERY PICTURES" gets hits on totally unrelated nonsense like that, so it takes forever to research. Adding "WYOMING" to the mix gets you every real estate broker in "WYOMING", with "PICTURES" of houses and text that gushes about "beautiful ROCKY MOUNTAINS SCENERY", but no actual pic of anything but the houses they're trying to sell. Anyway, I'm gonna be working on it for a while, I'm currently fuzzifying some of the surrounding peaks.

Sniper, I was raised outside of Denver until leaving for college and being somewhat of a 'free spirit', with a motorcycle managed to spend a lot of time roaming between there and Montana. In fact, that is the area and premise the ADF was built on. Had pictures plastered all over the den for inspiration and ideas, but natures handiwork is a hard one to follow up. However, looking at what you have above, you have it pegged to the proverbial "T". Definitely looking forward to is. RobertR .. ADF-M&RM at http://www.adfrr.com

RE: BNSF Lady checks out BNSF Lady on PO&N 9

Jim, as someone who was very close to Cyndi (we wrote to each other every day for the past five months) and who is still in shock with her passing all I can say is thank you for what you have created for her. She deserved every bit of the praises she received here and at 3dtrains. I know Lisa said you had sent her the loco with, I believe she said, Cyndi's grandson's name on it and was very thankful for that as well. And now with a town in her name, that is just a great thing you are doing. It touches my heart as a dear friend of hers and I know it touches her daughters as well. Thank you so very much for everything you are doing to keep her memory alive. Cyndi Richards was a very intelligent, kind hearted, lovely woman in every respect of those words. She got me through some very tough times with my Trigeminal Neuralgia problems which seem to keep surfacing despite the medicines, and I miss her thoughtful words of sympathy but also the tough words of "Get right back up and don't let it get you down". I miss her and her emails so much that words cannot describe the feelings of loss I have. She will be in my thoughts and prayers forever. And I know she will be driving that great 38 BNSF pumpkin up there just waiting for all of her friends to join her on that great ride when our times come. Again thanks for that. As far as I am concerned there is noone who deserves a place on a route like yours, as she does. And I know she would have thought that she didn't deserve it but she would have been oh so wrong. Thanks Jim. Thanks so much from someone else who misses her terribly. It is a very gracious thing you are doing in her memory.Tim"May the great BNSF 38 pumpkin carry you to your new home, Cyndi and may you engineer her for an eternity"

Well, possibly some confusion, "I know Lisa said you had sent her the loco with, I believe she said, Cyndi's grandson's name on it and was very thankful for that as well."She might have me confused with somebody else, I don't even know the grandson's name, have a hard enough time keeping track of my own grandcritters. In fact if you asked me to name all 16 it would take me a while. I did get an email from somebody named John who said he installed 8703 on her grandson's computer, maybe he painted the kid's name on it.Anyway, yeah, I didn't know that much about Cyndi other than I liked her style, she had class, wit and humor, and didn't take herself too seriously. Your description of her "mothering" you thru a problem reminds me even more of my Mom.BNSF Lady checks out BNSF Lady on PO&N 9 – image 13Mom had scleroderma, and died a few months shy of her 53rd birthday, but when she was alive she was exactly like that. Even with 7 kids of her own she adopted dozens more, and "mothered" anyone who needed it, even people who were older than she was.

RE: BNSF Lady checks out BNSF Lady on PO&N 9

Very sorry to hear about your mother's early passing Jim. Perhaps it was from Otto then, but I thought she had said it came from you. Maybe she meant you made it. Have never heard of John so don't know who that is. All I know is that someone, could be Otto, could be someone else had sent her son Matthew your BNSFLady engine with his name on it. But she appreciated it tremendously. I am sending him a copy of the one that she sent me a while back with his name on it as well. He is not taking his grandmothers passing too well at the moment but I am hoping as she is that if he gets the engine she made that he may get back into running the game again and feel a little better. Of course it will take time for him to get over her being gone as I guess they were very close but time can heal the wounds I hope. My mother passed away from cancer when she was 63 so I understand.
As for grandchildren, I have the same problem, and I have a lot fewer than you do. But, I still want to thank you for what you are doing for her. She was a great lady. I miss her tremendously! Well, it fades with time but you never do quite get over it. "They say that time,
heals a broken heart,
but time has stood still,
since we've been apart."From "I Can't Stop Loving You", Ray Charles.I did get an email from Lisa today, and she's astonished at the number of friends Cyndi had from all over the world. Guess that's the confusion thing, "John" is a member here, I forget which one, and he went there for the funeral and was the one who sent me the email saying he had installed the Great Pumpkin 8703 on the grandkid's computer before he left. Otto did do an engine too, a BNSF Lady Dash 9, so possibly THAT got installed also, and you almost need a scorecard to keep track.Ya had to go and bring up grandcritters again, now you have me wondering if I can do it.BNSF Lady checks out BNSF Lady on PO&N 9 – image 14
That's only 14 of them, two more were born since that pic was taken, but lets see if I can get all of these.Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner and Blitzen, Happy, Dopey, Sneezy, Bashful, Grumpy, Sleepy, and Doc.
See, I ain't so senile after all.
