Photo Winner can put "Winner of the August Commuter Rail/Rapid Transit Photo Contest" in his/her signature.

Screenshots can be from any simulator. That means, MSTS, Trainz, BVE (I encourage people to download the A Lefferts Shuttle at nyctba.com and I hope to see screenshots from that route), or anything else. They can depict any operation of the above categories from around the world. Photos follow the same policy.Mods, please anchor this thread until the end of the month.

I think you're going to have to offer a little more enticing prize that that, judging by the amount of participants so far But, just to get the ball rollin', I'll start off with some good old fashioned 600v DC:Commuter Rail/Rapid Transit Contest – image 5

Okay, I'll spice up the prize a bit (it's a surprise), and I'll add runner up prizes. There's a category for photos too, so I'm surprised no one has put in a couple of pictures yet. Reminder: Subways, Commuter Rail, and the like count, not just interurbans. And 3 shots (combined photo/screenshot, all screenshots, all photos) are allowed. Just a few reminders.

Once I free up some time I'll shoot some pic's. 74th St isn't that far away, so I have something to shoot other than R62A's. Maybe I'll look around Queens Plaza, too..

One last addition: EDITED SHOTS WILL BE CONSIDERED LESS THAN UNEDITED SHOTS AND WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO WIN. Not everyone has Photoshop, and I want a level playing field here. If I see a rash of photoshopped images submitted here when I return from Canada, I will disqualify all photoshopped images and all other entries by the person(s) who submitted the photoshopped images. I really don't want to have to do this, so please only upload shots that are "clean."If I only see a few, those will be disqualified for the winning spot but will still be in runner up contention. They will count as one of the 3 shots.Tim: Since I hadn't put this in place when you posted, you can replace your image with a non-edited one and then get two more shots like everyone else.I will allow cropping to get images down to the 100 Kb upload limit, but no other editing is allowed.I also would like to say that I'm liking the shots so far, but I'd certainly like to see more. I'd like to see at least two in each category by the end of the month. It would be great for me to see a lot of new shots when I get back from Canada next Wednesday.I also forgot to mention that if anyone would like to help me judge the contest, I would appreciate it. Judges would not be able to have entries counted in the contest, but I might give you something anyway.

Tim: Since I hadn't put this in place when you posted, you can replace your image with a non-edited one and then get two more shots like everyone else.Well, I can't pull the edited pic, that will have to be done by an administrator, so we'll just have to ignore it.Here's it's replacement, not edited.

You are correct about the camera, Mike. The white box atop all of their rebuilt GP40s is a Duo-Therm RV-style air conditioning unit. I suppose they used that kind instead of your normal air conditioning box (like on the F40) because they could position the Duo-Therm directly over the engineer, who is the only one in the cab.-- Mike Karlik --

And any combination of the two, will score higher. Example:

In this shot, I waited until the Spadina Avenue streetcar (CLRV) was right above this approaching GO Transit commuter train (F59PH). If you can combine more elements, even better.

Since it has been pointed out to me that my post was misunderstood allow me to clarify...
For those of you not in the know VRE has been buying surplus METRA equipment and about 50 Gallery Cars to be specific...
And I was also joking (rather poorly I'm afraid) that I did not know the original poster was a VRE fan also....Chuck Schneider

CN has some ex Metra Gallery cars sitting at CN/VIA Yard in Mimico... CN derailed them while they were enroute to Montreal. It occured on a part of the line where GO's run. Better a Metra then a GO Well, at least the cars were mid train in a long freight at midnight Anywho... Here are some GO transit shots.
1: GO 554 pulls into Pickering in the early morning to pick up another trainload of commuters.
