Here are some shots from my Esquimalt & Naniaimo route that I hope to complete in the near future (only if that #$%& route editor dosen't kill it again!). For those unfamilar with the E&N it is a network of branchlines that CP Rail operated on Vancouver Island until the mid 90s. CP sold the operations to RA who is still currently operating the line. My route is set in the mid to late 80s when there was still heavy freight traffic on the Port Alberni Subdivison. Track work on the route was completed several months ago and all roads and grade crossings are complete. With the rough stuff out of the way I am now starting on the huge task of scenery which I have found some interesting ways to cheat when installing trees, weeds and tree blocks. I am not sure if anyone else has used my technique and the only hint I will give is that I did not use forest regions as they were frame rate killers. These screen shots show the techniques I have used. See if you can figure it out.The shots start on the Wellcox spur and end at Parksville junction. I will post more images in the near future as I finish up more of the custom buildings that I am doing in TSM. Have a good weekend everyone

Yes some of those are tree lines but it is the technique in how they were installed on the route. What you see in this route was created in about two hours time. This is something new that I have been tinkering with and in fact liked the results so much that I recently deleted a months worth of work and reforested the completed areas using this technique which was done in a evening! I will let you guys know how I did it after I return from my weekend trip.

ENR3005,Is the E&N railway closing? I've heard they only haul something like 300 cars a year. Nice pictures by the way! Oh ya, is that where the route will start and end, Wellcox to Parksville?

Thanks for the kind comments guysSo no one figured out the scenery. Most of the scenery is spawned by the gantry.dat file which I will explain with a new thread over at the Route Design forum. I have also used the same technique to install working Dynamic Scale Rail on some test routes which again I will explain over in the Route Design forum. Jonatan, The route is a hobby project that I work on with my spare time to get waway from the pressures of the real world. There is currently no release date but it could be in the next couple of months.CP6024The real E&N is in a little bit of trouble right now but that could change in the near future. The line is actually hauling about 2,000 cars a year. Rail America and CP Rail have not been able to reach some sort of agreement to have a spur line rebuilt to a Paper Mill in Crofton. This would allow the E&N's biggest shipper, Norske to start using rail service again. CP wants the railroad to be shut down so they can sell of all their land which is millions of dollars of prime property. Rail America owns the line to Port Alberni and has not used it in the last three years since Norske started shipping by truck due to CP's refusual to allow the spur line to be rebuilt. So in the mean time the line is a propane, chemical and grain hauler. There has been some recent postings on other forums that the line is for sale and there is the possibility that Norske may buy the line for itself since it would be connecting it's own two mills but this is all speculation at this time.
