RE: A very nice Freebie from MLT!

Well I took some screenshots in the excellent Shape Viewer, some to compare with the original M$ freebie (on the official web site) and some to show the MLT detail.MLT seem to have lost the working wiper blades and the 3-D wheel at the rear left hand side of the loco, but the detail and paint job are light years away from the original.Shots on the links below.A very nice Freebie from MLT! – image 5A very nice Freebie from MLT! – image 6A very nice Freebie from MLT! – image 7A very nice Freebie from MLT! – image 8A very nice Freebie from MLT! – image 9A very nice Freebie from MLT! – image 10A very nice Freebie from MLT! – image 11A very nice Freebie from MLT! – image 12Geoff Brown

RE: A very nice Freebie from MLT!

The model you'r compare the MTL loco are not the original MS, it's model making by Justin Cornell...

RE: A very nice Freebie from MLT!

You obviously missed the "free" download that was (still is) on the MSTS official site. I was rather critical of it at the time because it only seemed to dwell on the publicity logo that was carried around by the loco that the original was based on.I'm afraid I ditched/overwrote the original so I cannot compare it.Geoff Brown

RE: A very nice Freebie from MLT!

Very Very interesting. The new MLT model is outstanding !I've made an interesting find. Look at the MSTS logo on your MSTS box. See how the "Microsoft" is small in comparison to the "Train Simulator"Now, look on the Microsoft Dash 9 MSTS sticker. See how the "Microsoft" part is inlarged? Interesting, maybe because the files were hosted on a MS website? lolJay

>Interesting, maybe because the files were hosted on a MS website?Probably not. It's larger because of the 512 textures, and I'm reasonably certain the powers that be wanted the lettering to be legible. MLT's larger 1024 textures allowed them to paint their (new) model prototypically, and very realistically I might add. Cheers!
