I'm such a sucker for the romance of railroading! "Back then", it was nothing but you, your engine, some trusted crew members... and "Flimsies". No signals. No radios. Nuttin'. Miss a meet order, and it was ugly. Real ugly.Fortunately, on this crisp Ozark Autumn night, we didn't miss our meet orders. Nope, instead we are safely cooling our heels well in the clear on this chilly night as we await the arrival of Extra 3 South. The soft hissing of steam, the banter among the crew in the warmth of the cab... who hears it first?Yup. Shore'nuf... we all begin to hear the sound of a barking exhaust headed our way.As the sound increases, soon Extra 3 South rounds the curve and eases into the siding at Beaver, Arkansas. Another countless meet made safely that won't be recorded among infamous history. Instead, it was just another night railroadin' on the North Arkansas....
