ah - you should see the weeds and bushes for real - Enocell's route looks a lot better than the real thing, especially today...

RE: Buffalo screenies

not a lot, but maybe these will be helpful...1) and 2) were taken from the Ohio St bridge3 - 6) were taken from Seneca St. The Chessie train was NI42 which crossed the border in Niagara Falls and navigated the CR Niagara Branch en route to Buffalo Creek yard. The NS train was waiting for NI42 to pass before leaving the small yard that the NS used after Bison Yard was closed (it has since reopened). The 6th photo was taken with a 50mm lens; the others with an 85mm.7) and 8) were taken from the opposite side of the tracks from the color photo I posted earlier. The former DL&W bridge in the background was torn down shortly after these photos were taken at the William Street end of the North Yard, which was home to the D&H before they moved into SK yard after Bison closed.9) an N&W freight waits permission to cross the Buffalo Southern near Lake St in Blasdell.10) the NY&LE yard in Gowanda - end of the line for the Buffalo Southern...Tim Baldwin

Really cool pics, thanks for posting them. I wish the RE would let me change the track layout at the S-elevator and BJ yard. Or maybe I can if the workaround for the S-DS works. Where I should move before trying to save?

I did some minor changes to the FW, for example added that brick building and relined some tracks. Q: Should I change some tall buildings to shorter ones? There's not so many skyscrapers in the photos.

RE: Buffalo screenies

the only one that looks out of place would be the tall building at the upper right corner of the first photo. the only very tall buildins in Buffalo are clustered in the downtown area, plus the Central Terminal. Overall, I think you've done a great job of capturing the flavor of the area as it was when Buffalo was the second largest rail hub in the nation (Chicago was/is #1)...I wish I'd remembered the photos sooner. I realized after i posted the first lot that any black and white photos had to have been taken before 1986, as I haven't had a darkroom since then...Tim Baldwin

What building is the one at the left in the first photo?
I started to edit this area and so far the save-trick has been working. Just had to move 6km away before saving...The engine facility is/was between the NYC/NKP etc yards and Buffalo river, right? At least the roundhouse is on the old map.

RE: Buffalo screenies

forgot one - this was taken on the running track that NI42 had been using, not far from CP 437. The train is probably the 'Wabash' which will cross over the International RR Bridge at Black Rock en route to the CN. The 3rd unit was one of a few that were painted in N&W passenger colors...Tim Baldwin

RE: Buffalo screenies

These are from color prints, so the quality is less. Most are grab shots taken during an excursion by 611 on the N&W from Buffalo to Albion PA and back. The first few were taken around N&W's Buffalo Junction yard, and the rest were taken from the Tifft St overpass...Tim Baldwin
