RE: CNm420E shots

These are really nice! Here's a pair pulling 50 loaded gypsum hoppers.A question, were these primarily road switchers or were they used on mainline freight? I had two of them pulling 50 hoppers and had trouble gaining much speed, thinking I may have overloaded them

Dave- M420W's saw service in Mainline freights and road switchers.
They ran quite abit on Intermodal trains between Halifax and Toronto.
I've seen photos of them on general merchandise trains coming through Bayview as well as on road switchers just east of Montreal.
So they saw service in all types of service

RE: CNm420E shots

I think the M420 is a little heavier than the C420. Also adhesion is a little better due to trucks and better computer. You might change these lines:
Mass ( 120.0t )
Adheasion ( 0.26 0.53 1.8 0 )
MaxForce ( 295.0kN )
I think those numbers ought to be close.

LAST EDITED ON Dec-01-03 AT 11:16 PM (EST)

Thanks Rob and Bob!I thought I had seen these units on mainline freight in Halifax years ago, guess my memory is still kind of here Thanks for the number Bob, I'll give those a shot.WCL: The route is the ADFRR V3.0, available in the library here. The hoppers are National Gypsum (NGCX). They are seen daily on CN's 501 / 503 trains, gypsum from Milford, NS to Dartmouth, NS.Unfortunately they are not available for download anywhere yet. They're a kind of work in progress that I was able to convince a local railfan (and MSTS fan, he's attempting to build CN's Bedford Sub) to share with me.Cheers

Hey TrueNorthI really like the scenery of the route that you are using with CNm420. Can you tell me the name of the route that you are using?? It's good to see the Canadian locomotives on the track now and expect to see more and more later.ThankyouCNBALA aka John
