THIS IS GREAT STUFF!!A brilliant freeware route I've always known (LGV MED 2.1B) showcasing a new discovery - the French Z5600 double-decker suburban trainset (sorry I can't remember who made it). These screenshots showcase the fantastic design of the train, but one thing they can't capture are the sounds - which are magnificent. If you have a good soundcard you will be able to hear that constant, (somewhat annoying but realistic) sound of the pantograph and throttle, combined with an excellent horn and brake sounds. Highly recommended train - one of my all time favourites:

My train passes a TGV Duplex heading diverts on to the mainline towards Avignon I Don't Usually Take To Anything French, But – image 2
The first and only pick-up at Redessan Manduel station. The engine is considerably quieter with the pantograph down!I Don't Usually Take To Anything French, But – image 3
Leaving Redessan Manduel the noise is back again - throttle up, we're running late after I stopped to pour out an apricot juice!I Don't Usually Take To Anything French, But – image 4
This is not the cabview, this is the passenger view, which looks directly out the rear of the train, and is useful for seeming other trains pass, or in this case, stationsI Don't Usually Take To Anything French, But – image 5

Pull down the pantograph, skull the rest of my apricot juice, and shut the cabin door, ready for a fast TGV run to Marseille St CharlesAnd all that in 10 minutes!!!Koz

The set is by Edouard Staniczek - one of the best in the business, by my reckoning - and can be downloaded right here in the file library.Edouard also has a web site where you can view and download his other projects:http://perso.club-internet.fr/staned/projetsesk/index.htmlLots of great stuff there.Rob.

RE: I Don't Usually Take To Anything French, But ......

TGVs are too frickin' attractive for their own good! XPAnyway, good stuff. ^_^Although, the one thing that the LGV Mediteranée needs to give it that "perfect" flare is some realistic catenary wire. Seriously, just a little something more and it would be PARFAIT! I mean, hell, he's already got the catenary masts and gantries alternating direction of the bottom wire holder! Clem Tiller is amazing enough to build the route and I'm sure that he's amazing enough to place a few pretty wires. ~_^ (Hint, hint, LGV Med 2.2!)
Oh, and Clem, if you read this and know how to do it, could you please tell me? I'm sort of an idiot when it comes to the route editor... ^_^;;

Correction/clarification: Clem Tillier was responsible for the gantries and a few other things in LGVMed, but the route itself was built by Lucweb.Rob.

Expanding Horizons

For those who only like USA and Canada trains you ought to try one or two of the european routes. I was like that once. But my downloading and running of UK trains eventually believe it or not lead to a trip to Englad and France. I got to see the Class 66,37,47 engines on freights. Saw eltrically powered freight trains. Rode a Eurostar through the Chunnel and into France at 186 mph.Learning about how other systems works how they operate was also very interesting. Now among my many US routes I haveThe Crewe Liverpool line
The Swansea Route
The London Brighton Line
The LGV Med TGV route
The Brussles Antwerp line (another GREAT well done route)
The dutch route
The two swiss routes. Each rout has it's unique trains and sounds and way of doing things. So my view is if you have not tried a forign route yet...give it a shot. You may be surprised!BobFlorida Railfan Page

RE: Expanding Horizons

If it's any harder on the frame rates than LGV Med 2.1B then this thing won't handle it well enough for me.Koz
