They were just starting them up to pull'em out of the house. Yes the Alco's roller bearings spin with the wheels, nice little added detail, plus the units sound great and the cab chatter adds to the feel. This is a great route. Take care,
Rich S.

RE: Some more Delaware and Hudson...

Hi Everyone,I am pleased that all of you are enjoying the D&H, but I wanted to take a few seconds to clarify the pricing issues. Ideally, we want to keep the prices in the 20-25 dollar range for route products. The same applies here, with one expection. We are charged, by our provider 0.03 cents per meg downloaded. This route is about 320 megs total, so, for each time it is downloaded, it costs 9.60. This is why the route download was set at 34.95, to offset that cost. Sadly, route product downloads just don't seem to be feasible anymore. Our products somehow continue to grow in filesize making downloading less and less of a good idea. Not only that, but the costs are through the roof. The result of this is that the D&H will probably be the last downloadable product from MLT, with the only exceptions being any smaller Hertiage Packs in the future. All routes will be on CDROM, which, to be honest, is the best way to go. The downloads prove to be more problems than they are convenient, especially for dial-up users, where downloading 320 megs is a difficult feat. The D&H Bridge Line CDROM should be available next week. Once it is released, the download will likely go away, only remaining online for those who already purchased it, should they need to download it again at a later time.Cheers,
Jason@MLT

RE: Some more Delaware and Hudson...

Hi Jason,
Thanks for the D&H, it's great, but please don't take the download option away from your future stuff, it really is worth the 9.60 you pay for it, and the other options aren't nearly as easy.
I've noticed that for US customers, the UPS and USPS costs are nearly the same, you might save a whole two dollars, but you then have to sit around and sign for the route when it comes out, which means being around weekdays for the courier to show up. With the download option I can get the routes when I want and it only takes a couple of hours to download and burn to CD. Then we're away and driving. For me that's far better than the other options and worth the extra cost.
Unless I missed something, the only people the downloads are causing problems for are the dial up users, and my personal opinion is that if you're on dial up and choose to download something that's 320mb's, well that's your problem if you run into problems as you're just asking for trouble, especially as UPS can probably get it there quicker than your modem can download it. But getting rid of the download would be a big hassle for us on high-speed. I really don't like the idea of the extra hassle of having to wait for UPS and sign for the package.
I don't know how others feel, that's just my two cents worth. Thanks,
Jim Stone
Happy with the D&H.

"Naturally MLT`$ D&H addon pack will have them........just send more money.........they are great but I believe they are pricing themselves out of range for alot of us........"As an end user with a different perspective, I believe it's worth it. Guess we differ in that opinion, but I still love you. Having been in the route building aspect of MSTS for some time now, and having been involved in payware endeavors, I can tell you right now that building a route FOR PROFIT is a near-overwhelming venture. Imagine if you will a blank canvas on which you will have to create every ground texture, every tree, weed, building, track texture, piece of debri, every sign, custom sounds, new water textures, rock textures, etc, and in the case of MLT; add-in custom engines w/sound packs, custom rolling stock w/sound packs, custom signals w/scripting, on and on ad infinitum. Oh, and then you've got to create activities for it by the dozen. (Ever wonder why there's so few activity creators??? Try THAT aspect too.)Most simply cannot in their wildest imagination conceive the difficulty of creating a route from scratch. It is MONTHS of work for a small route... to say nothing of a large endeavor like a subdivsion-sized route as the D&H.I hope Jason and crew makes a killing, as well as Rich Garber, 3DTrainstuff, Marc en company, Dekosoft, 3D-Perfection, and so on. I've bought from them all, and will continue to support our payware producers. Plus, I will be purchasing appealing product from as many newcomers as I can (such as Sacremento Locomotive Works).Having come from 30+ years of model railroading, this is the cheapest form of railroad modeling I've found to date: No contest. Well.....I don`t think simming and actual model railroading can compare......I love them both ,but the actual model rules..... and yes the out of control prices of model trains make this form the best.....and yes again ....building a route is a hell of a project. I too wish Jason and MLT all the best. They deserve it. Everything they do I have and its by far the best! Its just getting frustrating that the world job market continues to take away from the average worker...while the price of everything goes up and up. I have over 1500 N scale railcars....300 top notch locomotives.....most bought before 1990. That would not be possible today. I ment no knock on MLT.....I have said numerous times on these forums.......they set the standard by which everything else is judged. I have a number of activities for Sandpatch, MP3, Cajon Pass....and honestly are not worth uploading yet...most of them still have a few glitches, so I agree that they are nowhere near easy. I guess its just simple frustration of the price of quality things nowadays, thats all......I know when the D&H pack comes out.....I`ll be buyin....and....I luv ya too man!CG

Since MSTS however, the spiders, mice and dust bunnies have taken over - Gonna' have to get back to it someday and clean it all up. Cheers!

geez........just like me.....all mine are packed away in cabinets.....I used to do the "club" thing.....but politics and excessive dues chase me away. The layout was so huge, I`m ruined for life now, I could never be satisfied with a small layout.....miss those 60 to 80 car trains. SO Size is important! CG

Where the heck you been?
The steady race to price us average schmoes out of the hobby began about 10 years ago with Atlas's "limited edition"(read: we've only contracted with the Chinese for X amount of units but we'll give the next run a different road #)locomotives and the final straw was with the vultures taking over Athearn after ol uncle Irv passed on and Athearn joined the "Hey our customers can shell out a 130 a pop for a loco too" club, from what I saw at the RCHTA hobby show in Chicago last week the one good thing about an economic slowdown is the physical model RR industry is getting a very ugly wake up call about driving us fiddling 40/50 buck a week guys out of the hobby.
As for MLT, guys as soon as funds allow after the CD version is out I'll be picking up Bridge Line to assume a place of honor on my harddrive next to Sandpatch.Gary S

The Bridge Line

After looking at the screen shots of the Bridge Line, I am drooling to have it! The problem is that as of now, there is no CD-rom available yet. I e-mailed a question to Maple Leaf Tracks last Saturday and they said it would be out this week. Here it is a week later and still no disc. This is frustrating.
