I'm going to take a guess here and say either Kingsport Subdivision or NS East River Sub Southern Pacific will live on forever in the hearts of the Red and Gray Railfans Followed an NS coal train down the mountain – image 7

That nearly-underneath shot looks like it was shot somewhere in the Clinchfield's area, and those're always nice to see. Thanks for sharing 'em! (Of course, this is additional impetus for me to install the East River route...)If you don't mind my asking, what made up your consist? I'm primarily looking for file names and however many hoppers or gondolas you were using; I'm assuming that you used the generic NS set of three D9-40CWs.Thanks in advance!

I see:NS 9683 Primer (gemegav2.zip)
NS 9749 and 8366 (nslocos.zip)
NS Coal Hoppers (ns_coal.zip)Yes, for the record, I am still working on activities, they are just not going as planned. I am also working on my own route, so the acts have taken sort of a back seat.

OK, thanks for the identity of the third engine. I'm kind of hoping the thread originator might tell me how many coal hoppers he had. I had a hair-raising experience trying to control a 50-hopper load coming out of Bluefield down the mountain, and I figured I might have been overloaded. Never throttled up once while riding the dynamic brake as the only measure of speed control; that's probably the most 'eventful' run I've made in a while. Thanks for the input!

RE: Followed an NS coal train down the mountain.

Hey, sorry for not responding to your orginal question. I had 40 hoppers, and some of them were Top Gon. I also had a former Conrail C40-8 as a helper.

Thanks a lot! I appreciate your response; I've been kind of learning about real (game-wise, that is) uses of the dynamic brake, as opposed to prior experience tinkering around on an inexperienced basis whilst on the Marias Pass or the Full Bucket. I had come to the conclusion that three D9-40CWs weren't going to be enough to slow down, but I did manage to control the thing after going into emergency only once. Heh heh heh.
