RE: Simple Loco Pics

Don't know...
I'm looking at RMC here and there is a loco that looks like it but in Seaboard scheme and it is am SDP35.
My guess is the thing on the back was for the HEP or a steamgenerator.
But i'm not sure what it really is...

RE: Simple Loco Pics

close, its actually a SDP40, a SDP45 would have flared radiators like a SD45. These units have a steam generator in the rear. BN and NdeM are the only ones that have or had SDP40s.joe

RE: Simple Loco Pics

could be but there is no such model. only 45 series models are SD45, SDP45, SD45-2, SD45X, and SD45T-2. the SDP45 has flares and is the only one with a steam generator. as i said it is a SDP40, BN only had 6 of them purchased probaly by Great Northern for passenger service. joe
