Among my collection of train videos... I have an old tape of the SP GS type locomotives. The year escapes me... middle 1950s maybe... severe winter storms closed the SP Coast route, Donner Pass, and the Feather River Canyon. Mojave/Tehachapi was a very busy place with all coast and Overland route traffic being re-routed through this corridor in addition to usual heavy SP and ATSF traffic. The cab forward helper over the Tehachapis has just been cutoff and the misplaced eastbound/soubound flyer, after servicing, will soon continue on it's journey to LAUPT through Palmdale and the Soledad Canyon. The locomotive is Justin Cornell's SP GS4 #4449 and the Daylight consist is by Train Artisan... which are outstanding with beautifully executed interiors.
